Chelsea Edwards joins FOX 26 KRIV

KWTX Waco reporter/multi-media journalist Chelsea Edwards joins FOX 26 KRIV

In what was thought to be a baby gender reveal, KWTX Waco-Temple-Killeen reporter Chelsea Edwards, popped balloons to display blue and pink confetti in a recent Facebook video.

That was a trick though. The real reveal was that Edwards is back in her hometown to work at FOX 26 KRIV.

"Get ready to have some fun with me in the mornings," Edwards said in the video.

She has been with KWTX since 2017.

Edwards is no stranger to the Houston television world. She did two tour of duties at abc13 KTRK as a video editor from 2007–2010 (I remember her from then!) and 2014–2017. According to her bio, she also worked with NASA through Boeing’s Knowledge Management Team creating videos and as an editor for the Urban Television Network.

She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from Texas Southern University.

The native Houstonian, first fell in love with production during her studies at the Media Academy of Hightower High School in Missouri City.

Chelsea Edwards is pregnant...no joke this time

FOX 26 KRIV reporter Chelsea Edwards announces a baby is on the way

Congrats to FOX 26 KRIV reporter Chelsea Edwards who announced on Facebook she is pregnant:

You guessed it! My Quarantine-15lbs... is a baby!
I appreciate everyone who was scared to ask if I was pregnant.
Shirt @ratemystationshop
Pants @adidas bc what can I fit right now?
Fun Fact: My bump wasn't showing, so I ate 5 tamales before these pics to accentuate my belly... then it just stayed that way.

Edwards joined FOX 26 in October of 2019.

If you saw the Houston native's announcement back then, you will know Edwards fooled all of us with a reveal video that appeared to be a gender reveal, but was really about her new gig at cahnnel 26.

She worked at KWTX 10 Waco-Temple-Killeen as a reporter prior to her Houston return.

FOX 26 KRIV reporter Chelsea Edwards explained while she wasn't at work...it's baby time!

"Soooo here’s why I had to call in to work," she posted on Facebook. "Tuesday morning we welcomed Harper Langston Edwards into the world a couple weeks earlier than expected! 6lbs 14 oz with quite a set of lungs. I’ll be sharing his high-speed birth story soon...for now, I’m going to sleep while I can!"

"Chattin’ with Chelsea!" to debut on FOX 26 KRIV

Chattin’ with Chelsea!

"Chattin’ with Chelsea!" will debut on FOX 26 KRIV Houston on August 26, 2024, announced station Senior Vice President and General Manager D’Artagnan Bebel.

Chelsea Edwards transitions from FOX 26 anchor/reporter to host this locally produced half-hour program, which will air on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. and stream via FOX Local and FOX Soul.

"Chelsea is a native Houstonian who has spent years earning the trust of our viewers by diving into the issues that affect our communities," Bebel stated.  "With her vibrant and charismatic personality, she is perfectly suited to provide humor and levity while amplifying diverse perspectives and sharing stories that matter."

The station says the show is designed to celebrate women’s resilience and empowerment, highlighting how modern-day women navigate life's complexities, from family and careers to relationships, health, beauty, wellness, social issues, and more.  The goal will be to inform, uplift, and inspire through conversations about all topics that affect Houston’s women, ranging from parenting to fitness, today’s dating scene, managing a successful professional life, and cooking on the go.

Each episode of the program will feature a mix of experts, celebrities, and local women as guests.

"Unveiling a show dedicated to the celebration and empowerment of women is an absolute dream realized," Edwards said.  "It fills me with an indescribable joy to transition from reporting news to creating content that is not only enjoyable but insightful, too. This isn't just a program; it's a movement where every woman's voice is heard and cherished."

Edwards joined FOX 26 Houston in 2019. Prior to launching this program, she served as a morning news reporter and fill-in anchor on "Houston’s Morning Show."

Before returning to Houston, Edwards was a reporter for KWTX News 10 Waco. Prior to reporting, she spent nearly six years as a video editor for ABC13 KTRK Houston. In addition, she spent four years running a TX21st afterschool program in Klein ISD.

A graduate of Texas Southern University, Edwards holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications.

FOX 26 drops noon newscast, adds more "Chattin’ With Chelsea!"

FOX 26 KRIV Houston cancelled its noon newscast on Monday, December 29th, 2025, and replaced it with an additional half-hour of "Chattin’ With Chelsea!" with Chelsea Edwards.

UPDATE
FOX 26 Houston noon news back

Don't ask me how long Fox 26 has aired a 12pm newscast, but it seems like it has been there for many, many decades at this point, if my memory serves correctly -  probably going all the way back to the 1980s.

"Chattin’ With Chelsea!" debuted August 26, 2024 at 12:30pm.

"Unveiling a show dedicated to the celebration and empowerment of women is an absolute dream realized," Edwards said at the time.  "It fills me with an indescribable joy to transition from reporting news to creating content that is not only enjoyable but insightful, too. This isn't just a program; it's a movement where every woman's voice is heard and cherished."

In August of 2025, FOX 26 added the "Fox 26 News Midday" newscast to its FOX Local digital offering, however "Fox 26 News at Noon" still remained on Channel 26 at 12pm at that time.

FOX 26 crew finds missing mother, son

FOX 26 KRIV says its reporter Chelsea Edwards and photographer Edward Lightbourn found a missing mom and her 7-year-old son in north Houston Thursday morning.

Edwards said the FOX 26 crew was with another unnamed Houston news crew.  I could not find a mention of that on the other outlets.

FOX 26 Houston noon news back

FOX 26 Houston

Remember when I told you earlier this month that FOX 26 KRIV Houston cancelled its noon newscast to air an extra "Chattin’ With Chelsea!" episode?

At the time, there were on-air and social promos touting the change. I can assure you I didn't party too hard over the holidays and get confused. The only hangover I get these days is from writing too many media blog posts (or attending my documentary's premiere in Minneapolis).

Well, go ahead and forget that news, since the Channel 26 news is back on the schedule this week.

You can still catch Chelsea Edwards' show at 12:30pm.

(Thanks Shad!)

2026 Houston Celebrity Dairy Goat Milking Contest

Houston media personalities gathered to take part in the annual Celebrity Goat Milking Contest at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where competitors race to squeeze out every last drop.

For 2026, David Smith, officer-in-charge of the Sheep and Goat Committee, claimed the Grand Champion title, winning both the traditional contest and the inaugural father-daughter round.

FOX 26 Houston KRIV Executive Producer of Local Programming Initiative Matt Horn finished just behind Smith, earning the Reserve Grand Champion title after a strong showing in the heats.

From what I could piece together on social media, other media participants included KHOU 11 reporters Anayeli Ruiz, Julissa Garza, Maria Aguilera, and Matt Dougherty. Other goat-milking celebrities included ABC13 KTRK weekend morning anchor Charly Edsitty, FOX 26 host Chelsea Edwards, KPRC 2 reporters Corley Peel and Rilwan Balogun, plus Houston Life host Derrick Shore. The rodeo also noted that KKBQ 93Q Country morning host Riggs took part in the competition.

So if your favorite Houston media celebrity wasn’t mentioned, I might lose my title as the G.O.A.T. of Houston media reporting!

KPRC 2 "Houston Life" co-host Tessa Barrera returned to host the event.

Goats used in the competition were provided by exhibitors participating in the Livestock Show.

The contest featured three heats, with competitors given 30 seconds to milk their goat. There was no practice round. Participants jumped straight into the competition, with the top two milkers from each heat advancing. The six finalists were then compared to determine the overall champion.

This year’s event also introduced a father-daughter milking round. Smith teamed up with his daughter, Ella, to win the inaugural round before going on to secure the overall championship.
