Matt Farrell named KCEN Waco chief meteorologist


Matt Farrell has been named the 6 News KCEN Waco-Temple-Killeen and KAGS News Bryan chief meteorologist.

He takes over for Andy Andersen who left in June 2023 after 25 years with the Central Texas television station.

Farrell joined KAGS in March of 2023.

Previous to KCEN - KAGS, Farrell took a break from broadcasting, working as a math teacher for the Frisco Independent School District. 

Before that, he was a content editor for TEGNA sister station WFAA 8 Dallas - Fort Worth.

He got his broadcast TV start as a morning meteorologist for Big 2 News KMID Midland - Odessa before taking teaching jobs with Rowlett and Royse City. 

The University of North Texas and Mississippi State University grad also studied at the  University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology.
