Aaron Fernandez-Wische, the KPRC 2 assistant news director, has been named Vice President of Content Creation and Distribution for FOX 26 Houston KRIV.
"I am pleased to announce that Aaron will be our next newsroom leader," KRIV and KTXH Senior Vice President and General Manager, D'Artagnan Bebel said in a statement. "He clearly understands the disruption and changed landscape of the media business and is ready to help reinvent the information gathering and dissemination process to meet consumers when, where, and how they choose to consume."
Fernandez-Wische takes over this new role following the departure of Vice President/News Director Susan Schiller who left FOX 26 left September.
Starting October 25th, 2023, Fernandez-Wische will oversee all the editorial, business, and administration functions for the duopoly's news and media content creation and develop vision and strategies across multiple platforms, reporting directly to Bebel.
"I'm honored to be chosen for this reimagined leadership role working alongside the dedicated and passionate team at Fox 26," Fernandez-Wische said. "I am committed to helping local news evolve, serving audiences when and where they need us with the trusted information, and connecting Houstonians in ways that enlighten, entertain, and improve their quality of life."
I've been covering Fernandez-Wische for more than a decade since he started with KPRC first in 2012, as a senior executive producer, and assistant news director starting in 2018.
Prior to that, he held the role of executive producer of special projects and investigations for ABC15 Arizona KNXV Phoenix, CBS 11 KTVT Dallas-Fort Worth, FOX 5 DC WTTG Washington, DC, and ABC Action News WFTS Tampa.
Previously, Fernandez-Wische served as Special Projects Producer and Manager for News 5 Cleveland WEWS.
Earlier in his career, he was a producer for FOX 26, News On 6 KOTV Tulsa, and KRIS 6 Corpus Christi.
A Syracuse University grad, Fernandez-Wische holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
Also recently hired at FOX 26 is reporter Jade Flury.
