Tashara Parker leaves WFAA DFW

Tashara Parker

Tashara Parker left WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth on July 19, 2024, where she was a Daybreak morning anchor/traffic reporter.

There is no word on her next job, but in the clip below on her last day, it's said she is staying in Dallas.

"Thank you to every single soul who has continued to fuel my growth here at the station," Parker posted on X.  "Y’all have no idea how you’ve challenged and helped me through that 2am alarm clock daily! I love y’all!"

Things have been busy for Parker lately. She was recently engaged and testified for the Texas CROWN Act House Bill 567, passed in the 2023 legislative session. This was after she received backlash for a natural bun hairstyle she wore on-air in October 2020. The four-time EMMY winner also hosted a series called "Rooted" on the subject for channel 8.  I was also there in the same session, testifying before the Texas House of Representatives Human Services Committee for HB 1673, which passed.

With more than 162,000 followers across multiple social media platforms, Parker won D Magazine's best Dallas television news anchor honors in 2022.

Parker joined WFAA in 2019 from TEGNA sister station CBS19 KYTX in Tyler, where, according to her bio, she was the first Black woman to anchor the station's evening newscasts.

She started reporting with KAGS HD News Bryan/College Station, also owned by TEGNA.

The Texas A&M University grad also has a master’s degree in journalism from DePaul University in Chicago.
