Brandon Hamilton announced he is leaving his anchor/reporter position with WBTV News 3 Charlotte, North Carolina and mikemcguff.com has heard he is re-joining abc13 KTRK Houston as a weekend morning anchor.
UPDATE: Hamilton takes over for Jeff Ehling, who is leaving to anchor abc13+ weekday streaming and return to his former Action 13 consumer reporting role.
Here is what Hamilton posted on Facebook:
"My last day on-air at WBTV is next Wednesday, Dec. 20.
For the past three years, you’ve allowed me to tell your stories and come inside of your home every single day.
I always say this is not a job for me — it’s a gift from God to fight for you, walk with you and, if needed, be the shoulder you can lean on.
This chapter has taken me across the Carolinas: from storm coverage, to a mass shooting and to our nation’s capital. You trusted me. For that, I’m forever grateful.
I hope I’ve made this city, this area...better.
Jeremiah 29:11."
Hamilton joined WBTV from KWTX 10 Waco-Temple-Killeen where he was a reporter in 2020.
In the opening paragraph, I noted Hamilton is re-joining abc13 Houston because he worked there before KWTX as a digital journalist/producer from 2015 to 2018.
He was previously an on-air personality for KTSU The Choice 90.9FM in Houston and a reporter/web producer for AM580/96.5 News Talk WDBO Orlando. While in Orlando, he also worked on the Orlando Magic's broadcasts.
The University of Central Florida in Orlando grad also earned his master’s degree in Radio/Television from Texas Southern University in Houston.
