Dan Gresham retires from KFDM 6 Beaumont

Dan Gresham has retired from KFDM 6 Beaumont after nearly four decades with the station.

UPDATE
Angel San Juan promoted to KFDM Beaumont morning anchor

Here is what he posted on Facebook on December 7, 2023:

"A television studio has been my second home for the last 47 years.

Somebody asked, so putting pen to paper that works out to be about 30,000 hours of live LOCAL tv and more than 8,000 broadcasts...not counting Hurricane coverage or telethons.

Today marks my final hours in this room with cameras.

Thanks for letting me be part of your mornings Southeast Texas. It’s been a great ride...and a privilege."

For decades, Dan Gresham was the executive producer/host of KFDM's four-hour morning newscast.

Born in Houston, and raised in Longview, Gresham studied journalism/broadcasting at Baylor University, landing his first reporting job with KWTX 10 Waco-Temple-Killeen.

He then joined KJAC Port Arthur in 1979 as a weekend sports anchor.

Following a five-year stint in sports, he shifted to radio management in Tyler before returning to Beaumont in 1986 to launch Southeast Texas' inaugural daily talk radio show on Newstalk 560 KLVI.

In 1987, under the persuasion of General Manager Larry Beaulieu, Gresham joined KFDM, briefly as a 10pm anchor with Sally Rieger.

Gresham later transitioned to morning news with co-anchors such as Melissa Daigle and Jillian Fertig.

His radio roots would come calling, and for nearly four years, Gresham hosted "Gresham Live" every weekday afternoon on Newstalk 560 KLVI. He also ventured into sports play-by-play for Lamar University Baseball and Basketball.

As he said in the above video, now Gresham will have more time for his wife and family after all these years of early alarms.
