Brheanna Berry returns to Houston at KHOU 11

Brheanna Boudreaux

Brheanna Boudreaux is returning to Houston television, joining KHOU 11 as a consumer reporter and 4pm anchor, mikemcguff.com has learned from multiple sources.

UPDATE:  At KHOU, she is now known as Brheanna Berry. WATCH HER DEBUT

Boudreaux has spent the last few years at TEGNA sister station WWL-TV 4 in New Orleans as a morning anchor.

Houston viewers may already know Boudreaux from her previous stint at ABC13 KTRK, where she worked from 2019 to 2023 as a traffic anchor, fill-in anchor and reporter under the name Brhe Berry.

UPDATE: Here is a portion of what Boudreaux posted to social after this post was published:

"We’re headed home to Houston!!! H-TOWN!For what feels like the first time in my career, I won’t be waking up before the sun! I’ve missed Houston, I’ve missed Texas, and I can’t wait to get back to work and be close to family. My Houston friends, you can catch me anchoring the evening news and sharing stories that will hopefully help us all navigate this crazy economy."

She will be joining former ABC13 KTRK colleagues Jacob Rascon and Ilona Carson, now also at KHOU.

At WWL-TV, Boudreaux anchored alongside fellow former Houston television journalist Brandon Walker, who departed KPRC 2 in March 2023.

KHOU has been without a consumer reporter since Grace White left in 2024 and a 4pm anchor since Shern-Min Chow left in February 2026.

Boudreaux returned to New Orleans after leaving Houston. She described Louisiana as the first place that truly felt like home, despite having grown up in a military family and having lived throughout the United States and overseas. She also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard while launching her journalism career.

During her time at ABC13, Boudreaux covered some of the biggest stories affecting the Houston area, including the Uvalde school shooting, the Astroworld Festival tragedy, the killing of Harris County Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal and major weather events that prompted large-scale evacuations. She also hosted a citywide domestic violence town hall.

Before arriving in Houston, Boudreaux worked as an anchor, reporter and social media director at WTKR News 3 in Norfolk, Virginia. Earlier stops included KELOLAND News in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she served as a morning anchor, reporter and health reporter.

Her journalism career began in Louisiana at News 10 in Lafayette, where she worked as a weekend anchor, reporter and multimedia journalist after graduating from James Madison University with a degree in journalism and a minor in sports communication.

Away from the newsroom, the Emmy Award-winning journalist is a mother of three young daughters and is active in community service and mentorship programs. She has worked closely with organizations including Dress for Success, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, veterans outreach initiatives and the American Red Cross. She has also volunteered to teach classes, support foster children and mentor young women.

Brandon Walker and Brheanna Boudreaux start at WWL New Orleans

I told you back in September how former KPRC 2 anchor/reporter Brandon Walker and former abc13 anchor/reporter Brhe Berry (now Brheanna Boudreaux) were joining the WWL 4 Eyewitness News New Orleans morning newscasts.

Well, now the former Houston TV duo are in the Big Easy and hitting the channel 4 airwaves.

Two Houston anchors resurface in New Orleans

Former KPRC 2 anchor/reporter Brandon Walker and former abc13 anchor/reporter Brhe Berry (now called Brheanna Boudreaux) are joining the WWL 4 Eyewitness News New Orleans morning show as anchors.

- Brandon Walker and Brheanna Boudreaux start at WWL New Orleans

The former Houston TV journalists debut on the TEGNA station with Eric Paulsen and Leslie Spoon starting October 16, 2023.

Both anchors left Houston TV near the beginning of 2023, Walker in March and Boudreaux in January.

- What other anchor just left Houston TV for the West Coast?

Walker is no stranger to New Orleans, as he is from the historic Algiers neighborhood and graduated from St. Augustine High School. He even worked as an assignments editor during high school at WGNO ABC26 New Orleans.

Before leaving KPRC 2 Houston, Walker stepped into the role of interim 4pm anchor following Keith Garvin's shift to evenings when Kris Gutierrez unexpectedly departed and disappeared off to DFW.

The Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Award winner became a headline himself in January 2020 when he was struck by a truck while crossing the street. It was a Lamar High School student named Alex Park who came to Walker's aid after the accident, playing a crucial role in saving his life. For his heroic actions that night, Park was later honored with the Boy Scouts of America's Medal of Merit.

Following a period of surgery and recovery, Walker made his triumphant return to KPRC in March 2020.

Walker joined KPRC 2 in January 2015. Known for his exceptional storytelling skills, he even for a moment revived the legendary "Eyes of Texas" as a podcast.

Before joining KPRC, he served as a reporter and fill-in anchor at News 12 Connecticut and as bureau chief reporter/fill-in anchor for YNN Albany, New York.

During his pursuit of a master's degree at the Columbia University - Graduate School of Journalism, the Carleton College graduate gained valuable experience as a CBS News broadcast associate working the national desk.

Boudreaux as Berry joined abc13 Houston KTRK in the spring of 2019, taking on roles as a reporter, traffic anchor/fill-in anchor.

Before her time in Houston, Boudreaux worked for WTKR News 3 Norfolk, Virginia, as an anchor/reporter/social media director. She also anchored for KELOLAND News KELO Sioux Falls, South Dakota and served as an anchor/reporter for News 10 KLFY Lafayette, Louisiana.

Growing up in a military family, the James Madison University grad was accustomed to frequent moves, spanning from Washington to Europe. She dedicated six years of her life to the Virginia Army National Guard and the Louisiana Army National Guard.

Boudreaux and her husband, Hunter, have three daughters ages three and under.

Where is Samica Knight 2020?

UPDATE JANUARY 27, 2020
Samica Knight to return to abc13 KTRK this week

abc13 KTRK morning anchor Samica Knight has not been on air in weeks, nor has she posted to social media since January 7, 2020.

Unfortunately that is about all I can tell you about Knight's whereabouts.

What I can tell you is that my social media messages and email are filling up with questions from concerned channel 13 viewers!

Viewers tell me Brhe Berry has been filling in for Knight.

In my 2018 Where is Samica Knight on abc13 KTRK post, Knight had left enough clues on social media to let us know she was experiencing medical issues.

So, not much info is available this time, but I wanted to let you know I am aware of the situation and please let me know if you see her back on TV or posting to social media.

Let's hope she is just on vacation.

abc13 KTRK anchors switch schedules

abc13 KTRK afternoon traffic anchor Brhe Berry and morning "Stretch Your Dollar" anchor Chelsey Hernandez swap schedules

You might call her Brhe Berry, while television viewers in other markets might call her Brheanna, either way the usual afternoon abc13 KTRK traffic anchor seems to be getting up real early these days.

UPDATE JANUARY 2023
Brhe Berry leaves abc13 KTRK Houston

Berry, no relation to the Czar of Talk Radio Michael of the same last name that we are aware of, is working the morning newscast now and appears to be on the consumer news beat.

For example, she has pleas out on social media looking for anyone who has had a Ford truck broken into or anyone who has used the Ease app. So if you fit the bill, give her a call.

I remember trying to find interviews for consumer stories in the dark days of the pre-social media world. Yikes. What's left of consumer departments around the country should be thankful those days are past us!

So I guess Elissa Rivas is doing traffic now? Meanwhile she is also doing consumer stories.

So, that leaves us Chelsey Hernandez who exited mornings for afternoons a few weeks ago. She is still doing "Stretch Your Dollar" segments in the PM it seems.

Hernandez is also hosting an online only show at 11:30am called The Midday. This show started around the time that the 11:30am portion of the news was replaced by Jeopardy! Got to get that exclamation in there.

Now, if Hernandez and producer/steadicam rig operator extraordinaire Jerry Nunez are looking for guests, I know of one. There is this guy who is producing a documentary on the former 101 KLOL which was a beloved station that many Houston radio listeners want back on the air. A trailer was just released last week. The Houston Chronicle and Chron.com have done some nice pieces on the project if you need background. Call me I mean contact this really dynamic director/producer if you want a guest who can bring in star DJs to talk for guaranteed number bumps. I think this guy has been to the station before a couple of times.
