WFAA Dallas weekend anchor updates 2023

Teresa Woodard will be anchoring the entire weekend for WFAA 8 Dallas, as Morgan Young moves off Saturdays.

Woodard fills us in via social media:

"It’s been a privilege to bring you the news on Sunday nights the last few years, so how about we do it on Saturdays too? Thrilled for the wonderfully talented Morgan Young as she steps away from Saturday duties and takes a new role on our storied #WFAA Investigates team. She’s doing big things y’all! Now the question is — can you handle my best bud Jesse Hawila and me ALL WEEKEND LONG??? Sure hope so! Thanks for watching, everybody!"

Here is what Young said on social:

"This Saturday is my last one as Saturday Evening Anchor at WFAA & I am a little surprised at the emotions that have bubbled up for me today.

I’ve been a weekend anchor for my entire career, and while 7 years of working weekends has its challenges- it’s been so special. I have learned so much, been challenged majorly and gained so much respect and admiration for the people who make this whole thing go when the weekday support isn’t in the building.

It was a dream of mine to anchor in Dallas, so my mom could watch me without using an app & getting there at 25 was wildly humbling. Our show has been fun and silly, but tough and informative when it needed to be. It won an Emmy, and it stands tall not as a weekend newscast, but as a newscast period. I’m honored to have been a part of it.

I accepted a promotion to the Investigates Team here at WFAA, and I start transitioning into that role next week. I’ll pop in on the desk here and there, but I will really focus on growing and serving as an investigative journalist. Truthfully, I’m so excited for this next chapter."

Young joined WFAA in March 2021 from TEGNA sister-station 5 On Your Side KSDK St. Louis.

Woodard first joined WFAA in 2012, but then left in 2014 for a PR gig.  Clearly she still wanted to work for all alike and returned to channel 8 in 2018.
