Erica Ross joins KENS 5 San Antonio

Erica Ross has joined the KENS 5 Eyewitness News team as a sports anchor/reporter and will debut Saturday, May 15, as the CBS station’s weekend sports anchor.

She will contribute stories during the week to the station’s evening newscasts.

Ross joins KENS 5 from KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley, where she served as a sports anchor/reporter.  Prior to her time in South Texas, she covered Purdue University and other Big Ten Conference sports programs for WLFI in Lafayette, Indiana.

“I’m so excited to be here in San Antonio, not only to work but to live,” Ross said. “I can’t wait to see what the city has to offer and get involved in the sports community.”

Ross joins KENS 5 sports director Joe Reinagel and sportscaster Vinnie Vinzetta to cover San Antonio’s local sports scene, including the San Antonio Spurs.  For the past 20 years, KENS 5 has been the Official TV Station of the Spurs.

“We are thrilled to have Erica join our team.  Her enthusiasm is contagious,” Reinagel said. “She has a love for high school sports, something she has done well for several years in the Rio Grande Valley. We go big on high school sports, so I’m looking forward to the great stories she’ll be sharing on KENS 5.”

Ross was born and raised in Southern California, where she was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, reading, watching movies and playing video games.
