Lauren Tostenson joins KHOU 11 from NewsFix; Austin television viewers will know her as Time Warner Cable News' Lauren Mickler

Lauren Tostenson aka Lauren Mickler

Lauren Tostenson has joined KHOU 11 as a reporter. Her first day on air was last Friday.

Tostenson jumped ship from CW39 KIAH's NewsFix where she was an MMJ.

Central Texas TV viewers will know Tostenson as Mickler (her maiden name) where she spent two years as a multimedia sports journalist at Time Warner Cable News in Austin.

Before arriving in Texas, Tostenson worked two years at KEZI 9 News Eugene, Oregon. She moved to Eugene from her hometown of San Diego where she worked at O&O station NBC 7 San Diego KNSD.

Journalism runs in Tostenson's blood. Both of her parents were in the industry which meant Tostenson grew up in newsrooms. No surprise she graduated from journalism powerhouse the University of Missouri where she put in time at KOMU.

As Lauren Mickler, Tostenson became part of a viral video. Her interview of East View High School Football player Apollos Hester has more than 9 million views and countless rehashes on YouTube.

Lauren Tostenson leaves KHOU 11

Looks like reporter Lauren Tostenson has left KHOU 11. Her bio has been wiped from the channel 11 website sometime in the last week.

Tostenson joined KHOU in November of 2015 from CW39 KIAH's NewsFix where she was a multimedia sports journalist.

Central Texas TV viewers will know Tostenson as Mickler (maiden name) where she spent two years as a Time Warner Cable News MMJ in Austin.

Prior to Texas, Tostenson worked two years at KEZI 9 News Eugene, Oregon. She moved to Eugene from her hometown of San Diego where she worked at NBC 7 San Diego KNSD.

She graduated from journalism powerhouse the University of Missouri where she put in time at KOMU.

I contacted both KHOU and Tostenson last week for this post but never heard back from either party. If I do, the update will be posted here.

FOX 26 KRIV assignments manager Crystal Solomon has left the station.

Louis Lochte has left his KPRC 2 10pm producer gig and is now at KPIX San Francisco.

Houston Public Media News 88.7 recently hired Alvaro ‘Al’ Ortiz as a general assignments reporter. Throughout his career, Al has worked in every platform of journalism, from wire services to print and from broadcast news to online. Most recently, he was senior reporter for Houston Chronicle’s Spanish-language newspaper La Voz de Houston.
