Smasher and co-host Shawnda McNeal came to the CBS station from Hot 96 WSTO-FM Evansville, IN in January 2014.
"Grateful for the opportunity to return to my 2nd home and Katie's 1st, and trying my best, it just did not work out," Smasher wrote. "Such is life."
Smasher had previously worked for Houston's 104.1 KRBE as both a night jock and then later the morning show host along with Maria Todd after Sam Malone left for KHMX. In between Houston and Evansville, Smasher worked afternoons at Dallas' 106.1 KISS FM KHKS.
He is looking to stay in Texas.
"Houston is my home away from home," Smasher told mikemcguff.com in 2014. "I grew up in South Louisiana, but when I worked here, I developed relationships that tied me to this city forever. One being my wife who is from Kingwood. We were married here in 2005."
