Sofia Ojeda joins the KPRC 2 weekend morning anchor desk station management has confirmed to mikemcguff.com.

She will be reporting three days a week.

Ojeda comes from WNEP northeastern Pennsylvania where she worked the last five years. For The Office fans, her station was located in Scranton. Hopefully the station's staff exclusively used Dunder Mifflin paper products.

She was the station's weeknight 7, 10 and 11pm anchor - working her way up from reporter and then weekend anchor.

According to her bio, Ojeda also worked as an anchor/reporter for WETM in Elmira, NY and WIVT/WBGH in Binghamton, NY. She started her career in NYC as a WABC desk assistant and freelance reporter for News 12 the Bronx.

Hailing from Lima, Peru, Ojeda moved to the US as a child and grew up in New Jersey. She is a graduate of The College of New Jersey with a degree in Communications.

  1. She's replacing Courtney Zavala on weekends.

    1. Courtney Gilmore has been doing weekends (and far better than Zavala ever could dream of doing).

Hopefully this means Gilmore will do more weekday anchoring and Reyna can either go back to flubbing traffic, or go enter another bikini contest for the blind.

  2. She's the one responsible for finding that "apparently" kid at the county fair.

  3. Good luck to her. I wish they would have put a familiar face in there for the permanent job. I always like to see native Houstonians or at least people who've been here a while anchoring. I was getting used to seeing Courtney Gilmore, after Courtney Zavala left. Speaking of Courtney Z, I wonder wheres she been. She said after she left TV she would still be active on Twitter/Facebook, but she hasn't tweeted in Months.

    1. Have you tried Zavala's Facebook page?

    2. Probably realizes no one wanted to watch, listen or read her drivel. I think that former Ch 2 reporter Tasty Hoagie said the exact same thing but you never heard from her again either. Her and Zavala were both out of their element and unqualified.

    3. Speaking of Tastia, whatever happened to her?

    4. "Tasty Hoagie"? Do you do anything ever besides make up BS names for reporters? Get a life...

  4. She's no Daniella Guzman though (I still miss seeing her on the weekends).

  5. Please give her a chance. She is great! Our loss is your gain.

    1. Take her back. She fits better in the NE... just not polished and always grinning and acting goofy. Not what I enjoy to get my news.

  7. Gave her a chance. She's awful. Just wished everyone Happy New Years and the referred to a local road as T.J. Jester.

  8. Good reporter...TERRIBLE anchor. Put her back on the beat & put someone less "goofy" at the anchor desk.

  9. She is very goofy, unpolished and most times I turn the channel now when she's on. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Is there no Houston talent KPRC could have hired instead? She needs to go.

  10. She's not that bad, definitely unpolished and a bit goofy. But she's a weekend anchor and weekday reporter, I think she fits in well. Nobody is expecting her to be Shara Fryer.
