Deborah Wrigley returns to KTRK abc13

After exiting in June, longtime KTRK abc13 reporter Deborah Wrigley returns to KTRK abc13

Call me a little stunned right now, but after leaving in June, longtime KTRK abc13 reporter Deborah Wrigley is back at the station.

Wrigley's bio has reappeared on the station's website after being removed at the beginning of the summer.

Her departure was shocking to viewers. That post about her leaving is in my top 6 of all time in terms of page views.

After 37 years or so on the air, it was hard to imagine channel 13 without Wrigley. Well, it appears you will have to imagine no more. Wrigley is back at channel 13.

I contacted KTRK for comment but have not heard back. If/when I do, the station's response will be posted here.

Deborah Wrigley back live for the first time! #abc13 #ktrk

  1. Now they need to re-signed Dave Ward before he leaves in December¡

    1. No. They REALLY don't need to do that. In fact, Dave should leave today and never come back. He's mailed it in for years and needs to accept the fact that he needs to retire.

    2. Now bring back Dave Ward. We need something constant and familiar in this rapidly changing world.

  2. What's next ... Dave Ward staying at the anchor desk? ... Wayne Dolcefino coming back? ... Don Nelson doing traffic again? ... Debra Duncan doing a KTRK Morning ad show? ... Ed Brandon's weather? ... Eric James released from his kidnappers? ...

    1. Speaking of Eric James, wasn't he also arrested for prostitution in Louisiana a few years back?

    2. Lol, I forgot all about Eric James. He vanished without much farewell from the station. Hmmm.

  4. She never should have left. She is an icon in Houston and an outstanding veteran reporter, which by the way we need more of.

  5. I am glad she is back, but I wonder what happened! Maybe KTRK came to their senses. Now they should reinstate Dave Ward's contract too!

    1. Dave Ward needs to be in front of the camera one more time -- for a retirement story announcing that he's leaving the station, after mailing it in for the past 5+ years.

  6. I can't believe that on the crest of the massive corporate age discrimination wave, they are bringing her back. Now to keep Dave Ward.

    1. "massive corporate age discrimination wave"
... what do you mean by massive"? ..most people take the buyout offer.. but they're are some exceptions. Plus, when reporters and anchors are on a contract.. the contract states that they don't have to rehire when the contract terminates.

  8. Surprised to see her. KTRK seemed to be trending younger with its reporters - McCulley, Moreno, Lea, Romo

    1. You mean the ABC lawyers got this one right. Don't think for a minute that Henry Florsheim did this out of the goodness of his heart.

  10. Maybe she wanted the summer off! BTW, that's a terrible picture of her.

  13. Hopefully this is a sign that ABC corporate will be taking a more active role in managing KTRK. Everybody in the newsroom was excited to see Deborah return. (1) Because she's a damn good reporter and (2) because she beat Henry Florsheim at his game. Way to go Deborah! Yes, we're very proud of you.

  14. The money from Dave Ward leaving is probably what brought her back.
