Nate Griffin has been named a general assignment reporter at FOX 26, after two years as a sports contributor, announced Vice President and General Manager, D’Artagnan Bebel.

Effective September 8th, Griffin will report for the weekday morning and 12 p.m. newscasts.

In making the announcement, Bebel added, “Nate has been a contributor for us who has displayed a great on-air presence and impressive work ethic. We are very pleased to expand his role with FOX 26 as a full time general assignment reporter.”

Griffin has been at FOX 26 as a sports contributor since 2013. He also currently serves as co-host of the “Nate and Creight Show” on CBS Sports Radio 610 and is a color analyst for Rice University Football and Conference USA on Yahoo Sports Radio AM 1560, in Houston.

Previously, he served as the college football color analyst and sports columnist for Comcast Sports Southeast TV in Georgia. Prior to that, he was the host for the NFL Houston Texans’ internet show, “Texans TV.” Griffin began his career as a television analyst for college football and baseball on Sportswesttv.net in Salt Lake City.

A graduate of Texas Southern University, Griffin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications.

UPDATE
I learned that Griffin was a wide receiver for Southern Miss and Los Medanos College.
