Addison Green leaves KHOU 11

Addison Green News 12

Addison Green announced he is leaving KHOU 11 to become a weekday meteorologist for News 12 New York.

"It’s sad to say “Goodbye Houston” but my last day w/ @KHOU is this TUE," Green tweeted.  "It’s been a wonderful 2 years here! I’ve accepted a job w/ @News12  as one of the weekday meteorologists. I start on 12/15. Me & @KHOULauren debut Sun AM show in 1/2020, so it’s fitting we worked 1 last time."

"Going to miss this guy," Talarico tweeted.  "Wishing @addisongreenwx all the luck in the world on his new adventure in NY! He’s a great colleague and even better friend."

Speaking of the Northeastern United States, recently Green got engaged in Connecticut to his girlfriend Christina.

Green joined KHOU in December 2019.

Katie McCall and Addison Green on New York TV

Former Houston TV greats Addison Green and Katie McCall with Doug Geed (photo courtesy Katie McCall).

If a Houston television news viewer happened to visit Long Island in New York, they might do a double take watching News 12.

Both longtime Houston anchor Katie McCall (KIAH, KTRK, KRIV) and former KHOU 11 meteorologist Addison Green work with the cable news channel and sometimes even work the shame shift!

"When I walked in for my audition, Addison was immediately welcoming and a total pro, and we quickly took a picture and sent it to Chita (Craft)," McCall told mikemcguff.com.   "We realized quickly that we had all these wonderful friends in common and it's just been a blast working together here."

McCall recently started with the News 12 and Green has been there since he left channel 11 in 2021.

Both former Houston talents still love the Bayou City.

In fact, Green was just here last week seeing friends like KHOU's Brandi Smith, KPRC's Justin Stapleton and KHOU's Tim Pandajis.

"You have this bond that really makes you feel a sense of belonging and that 'we've seen some of the same stuff' feeling," McCall told me.  "The friends we have in common at KHOU are some of my favorite people on earth."

Addison Green

Addison Green dropped to one knee recently and asked his girlfriend Christina to marry him.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021
Addison Green leaves KHOU 11

"The date 10/8/21 will always be an important one to us, for it’s the day I proposed & asked Christina to marry me," Green tweeted.  "My best friend, Chris, was able to be there as a witness & take pics/vids. It’s only fitting, he is the reason we met & know each other."

The KHOU 11 meteorologist posted the details of how it all went down at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Green joined KHOU 11 in 2019 from the now shuttered Verizon FiOS1 News New York and Northern New Jersey.

Addison Green joins KHOU

Addison Green announced on Twitter he is joining KHOU 11 as a meteorologist.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021
Addison Green leaves KHOU 11

“One door closes and another one opens and I’m on to the next chapter of my career," Green tweeted. "I will be joining the wonderful & amazingly talented people of @KHOU, the CBS station in #HOUSTON!"

Talk about Thanksgiving.

His last job, Verizon FiOS1 News New York and Northern New Jersey, just shutdown in mid-November.

He has a lot to be thankful for to land a new job that fast in the TV news biz.

Now, Green already has some history with a weather colleague at channel 11. He and Erika Lopez both worked at WeatherNation TV in Denver, CO.

"SOOOOO excited for @AddisonGreenWX to join the @KHOU weather team!!! 👏 See ya soon, Friend," Lopez tweeted.

Besides FiOS1 and WeatherNation TV, Green also has worked for Media Logic Group / AerisWeather - Minneapolis, MN. He was also a weather producer for both CBS News and FOX 5 WNYW New York.

The EMMY winner attended the State University of New York at Albany - Albany, NY and State University of New York at Buffalo - Buffalo, NY.

KHOU launches Sunday morning newscast

KHOU 11 launches its first ever Sunday morning newscast

KHOU 11 quietly launched #HTownRush Sunday morning today at 7am with anchor Lauren Talarico and new meteorologist Addison Green.

UPDATE
Addison Green leaves KHOU 11

I say quietly because if my readers hadn't alerted me, I wouldn't have known this debut was coming.

It's big news because I never remember channel 11 having a Sunday morning newscast.

"Our first Sunday morning newscast ever by the way," Talarico echoed on a Facebook video. "We are going to be on every Sunday, KHOU will have a newscast every Sunday morning starting at 7 o'clock."

I wasn't the only one not expecting this change.

The ontvtonight.com TV schedule site listed a broadcast of First Baptist Church Houston in that time slot for today.

#HTownRush Sunday morning runs ahead of CBS' "Sunday Morning" with host Jane Pauley...in my opinion one of the best network news shows on the air.

UPDATE
A channel 11 viewer asked me where this leaves anchor Ron Trevino. Talarico said in the video that Trevino would be anchoring the weekend evening news like normal. What this means for his Saturday morning anchor gig...I am not sure yet.

(Thanks Kevin)
