Here is the announcement Newland made on Instagram about joining the TEGNA Austin station:

"So excited and blessed to announce I’ve accepted an anchor/MSJ position with @kvuenews catch me weekend mornings on the desk later this month! ⁣⁣

A huge thank you to my family, friends and colleagues for their support and encouragement. Also, to my angel above, I’ll continue making you proud daddy! ⁣

Can’t wait to start this new chapter in Texas (BeyoncĂ©’s home state *tears of joy*)."

Newland joined KYMA 11 and 13 (a dual CBS/NBC affiliate) in Yuma, Arizona back in June 2019.

Growing up in Carmel, Indiana, Newland graduated from Indiana University Bloomington. While in school she interned with the CBS The Late Late Show with James Corden, WISH and WTHR (both television stations are located in Indianapolis).

As a student, Newland also anchor and reported for Indiana University Student Television (IUSTV) and served as a special affairs chair for the local chapter of The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
