Former KSAT 12 San Antonio anchor/reporter Rosenda Rios, died in Houston Thursday after a year long battle with cancer the station reports.
The San Antonio Express-News reports her age as 62.
Rios worked for the San Antonio ABC affiliate from 2000-2010 where she anchored weekend newscasts and reported for the KSAT Defenders Investigative Team.
“Rosenda is one of the kindest, most generous women I’ve ever worked with," KSAT News Director Bernice Kearney said on KSAT.com. "She lived her life with gusto, fiercely loved her family and friends, and never stopped being a member of the extended KSAT family. I will miss her beautiful smile and her infectious laugh, and will always be grateful for the time she spent as part of the KSAT12 News team."
Before that, Rios worked for KEYE Austin.
Rios left the TV news business to work at USAA where she was the lead digital content strategist.
The station reports Rios is survived by her husband, former KSAT photojournalist Larry Burns, and sons Gabriel and Noah.
KENS 5 reported the email address friendsofrosenda@gmail.com has been established as a way to share condolences with the family.
