DeJonique Garrison leaves 12News KBMT Beaumont

DeJonique Garrison has left 12News KBMT-KJAC Beaumont where she was worked in two on-air roles for almost five years.

Garrison's last day was November 23, 2021.

Here is part of what Garrison posted on Facebook:

"There aren’t enough words to capture my sincere gratitude surrounding the last 4.5 years. From historic hurricanes to culturally-charged seasons, I’ve grown both personally + professionally in ways that were beyond my wildest dreams.

Thank you for allowing me into your homes each night to tell your stories…it’s was a responsibility + privilege that I didn’t take lightly. Thank you for your kind nods, gentle words and silent prayers through the years. They will remain with me always.

Thank you to those who indirectly pushed me to define my values and draw firm lines in the sand surrounding my philosophy on journalism. The tough times affirmed that I EARNED my seat at the table. God placed me here to take up space by using my voice, all while staying true to ME."

Garrison started at the TEGNA station as an investigative reporter/anchor on The Beat and KJAC Tonight. In 2020, Garrison and 12News assistant news director Jordan Williams were named the new evening co-anchor team for 12News 5, 6, and 10pm.

Before Texas, Garrison was a multimedia journalist for FOX 54 WFXG Augusta, Georgia.

The Lone Star EMMY winner is also a magna cum laude grad from Clark Atlanta University who went on to complete a Master of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

While studying at Northwestern, Garrison was a reporter for the  Medill News Service.

The New Orleans native previously worked as a production assistant for WGXA Macon, Georgia and for Bunim Murray Productions who produces "The Real World" for MTV.

Garrison also owns Deauxs Lifestyle, LLC., a self-care journaling company.
