Tim Pandajis leaving KHOU 11

Tim Pandajis announced he is leaving the KHOU 11 weather department on October 27, 2023 and later updated us to say he is rejoining 13News Now WVEC Norfolk.

And the meteorologist made the announcement an hour or so before the Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers ALCS 7 game.  So, I never want to hear that Mike McGuff is not around for his readers, since I am now obligated to write a post about Pandajis' departure during the game.  Who cares about the Bills-Lions game now?

Hey, the same thing happened on Halloween evening 2022.

KHOU recently hired Chris Ramirez as its newest meteorologist and some of my readers thought that meant channel 11 was up to six weather staffers like KPRC 2 and abc13 KTRK.  I wondered if that thought was correct, or if were we about to see someone leave.  Now we know.

Here is what Pandajis posted on Facebook:

"The Pandajis family will be on the move!

Houston, thank you! It’s been truly an honor working for you.

These past 2.5 years in Space City have been wonderful, I’ve grown professionally and personally. We’ve made a home here and we’ll surely miss it. The people, food, sports, and of course the weather!

Most of all I will miss THIS team! Working with the best in TV has pushed me to be better and work harder, I’ve treasured every moment. David, Chita, Kim and Pat have been the greatest of colleagues and friends. I've learned so much from each of them and we’ve made great memories together that I’ll always cherish.

I’m very grateful to have been given the opportunity to work in such a massive city in one of the most diverse weather markets in the country. Texas wasn't even on my radar but I’m sure glad we took the leap and made the move here in 2021.

My last day on air with my KHOU team is this Friday, October 27th, I hope you'll join us.

As for what’s next, stay tuned! I’m very excited to share with you where we’ll pop up soon!"

Pandajis joined KHOU 11 in June 2021 from 13News Now WVEC Norfolk, Virginia where he had been since 2016.

I personally want to thank him for his support in the Walk to End Alzheimer's Houston event!

He previously worked as:

- Meteorologist/traffic anchor/reporter for ABC 8News WRIC Richmond, Virginia

- Weekday morning/noon meteorologist for WHAG Hagerstown, Maryland

- Freelance Meteorologist for WRNN Rye Brook, New York

The Western Connecticut State University grad interned for WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News in Hartford.

(Thanks Doug)
