Chris Ramirez is joining the KHOU 11 Houston weather team, and I've been covering him since the beginning of his television career.
"For years, KHOU has been a Houston staple in broadcast news filled with legendary talent," Ramirez told mikemcguff.com. "I am so honored to finally be back home and to join this amazing team."
It's nice to see a native Houstonian return home for a TV job!
Ramirez comes from NBC 23 KVEO where he was the morning/mid-day meteorologist from August 2021 to August 2023.
Before that, he was the Nexstar Media Group station's weekend meteorologist for a year. He actually was sent to Houston during this time to cover Hurricane Laura for the Nexstar stations.
The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Mississippi State University grad started his television career with KSAN News San Angelo, Texas.
Ramirez joined KSAN in 2018 as its weekend meteorologist/digital content producer and then moved to the chief met role in June 2019.
He interned with abc13 KTRK Houston.
Houston TV stations are apparently adding meteorology staff numbers to their weather teams. On the same week, Daji Aswad was hired at KPRC 2.
Other recent KHOU 11 hires include Katiera Winfrey and Julissa Garza.
UPDATE: Tim Pandajis is leaving the KHOU 11 weather department.
