Katiera Winfrey returns to her hometown to join KHOU 11 Houston.
"I’ve been waiting on this return since I left my hometown of Houston 11 years ago," Winfrey said on LinkedIn. "And I’ll soon be returning as a reporter for KHOU 11 News in December. Amazing things can truly happen when you let go and let God. Forever grateful for my time at WISH-TV for making another wish come true nearly four years ago."
The Multicultural Reporter and fill-in anchor for WISH 8 Indianapolis, Indiana has also been an adjunct professor for Butler University.
When you see her famous last name, you might think of one of the top TV hosts of all time, and while there is not a connection from what I see, Katiera does offer an Oprah quote on her personal website, "God can dream a bigger dream for you than you could ever dream for yourself."
Winfrey previously worked for as a:
- reporter for WFMZ 69 Allentown, Pennsylvania
- reporter for News on 6 KOTV Tulsa, Oklahoma
- multi-media journalist KYTX CBS19 Tyler, Texas
- reporter Big 2 KMID Midland, Texas
- assignment editor KHOU 11
- associate/web producer WISH 8
The Texas Southern University grad interned with Houston stations abc13 KTRK and FOX 26 KRIV.
We can presume that Winfrey is taking the spot of Janelle Bludau who left KHOU 11 as a reporter. Also hired at channel 11 around the same time is meteorologist Chris Ramirez and multi-skilled journalist Julissa Garza.
