Amanda Atwell, the Sports Director for KVEO Local 23/CBS 4 Rio Grande Valley, announced she is leaving the stations in late November 2021.
Here is what Atwell posted to Twitter on October 9, 2021 (I have held this closer to her departure):
"My last day at CBS4/Local 23 will be November 30th. When I moved to the valley in December 2019, I was truly optimistic about the future. Coming from Amarillo, I was ready for a new challenge, and new experience. Come January, we were bought by a new company. Come March, a global pandemic struck. A wise coworker once told me: the only thing you can guarantee in this industry is change. If you follow me closely, you know I've struggled on and off with my mental heath over the last year. I would be lying if I sad I'm OK. But if this last year has taught me everything - it's that your priorities can change. Your dreams can change. And that's okay."
On November 22, 2021, Atwell revealed she joined Dave Campbell's Texas Football as the new Senior Partner Services Coordinator.
She joined KVEO/CBS 4 in November of 2019.
The University of Texas at Austin grad previously worked as a:
- Weekend Sports Anchor - KVII/ABC 7 Amarillo
- Weekend sports talk show host - 95.7 KPUR Amarillo "The Armadillo"
- Multimedia Journalist - KTBS 3 News – Shreveport, LA
- Contributing writer - SB Nation
During school, Atwell interned with Time Warner Cable News and KXAN Austin.
