Stephania Jimenez signs off KSAT San Antonio

Stephania Jimenez trades in co-anchor Ernie Zuniga for Keith Garvin as she signed off KSAT 12 San Antonio Friday night to make her way to KPRC 2 Houston's evening anchor chair.

“Thank you for the privilege of sharing your stories and the support that you’ve shown me,” Jimenez said. “While I am moving on to Houston, the mission of this station stays the same, and that is working every day to make San Antonio a better place. I am so proud to have played a small part in that mission...Mi gente, te amo.”

Jimenez moves east on I-10 on January 19, 2026.

She takes over for Daniella Guzman, who recently moved into a morning co-anchor role with Sofia Ojeda following Owen Conflenti’s departure in October.

KPRC and KSAT are Graham Media Group sister stations.

I have been chronicling her Texas return since 2021.

Stephania Jimenez joins KPRC 2 from KSAT12

Stephania Jimenez

Stephania Jimenez is joining KPRC 2 Houston as the station’s weekday 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. evening co-anchor with Keith Garvin, effective January 19, 2026.

“Houston is a city with energy, heart, and incredible stories,” Jimenez said. “I’m honored to join the KPRC 2 team and continue doing the kind of journalism that serves people, asks the questions they’re asking at home, and reflects the communities we live in.”

Jimenez replaces Daniella Guzman, who recently moved into a morning co-anchor role with Sofia Ojeda following Owen Conflenti’s departure in October.

She comes to KPRC 2 from KSAT 12 San Antonio, a fellow Graham Media Group station, where she anchored the station’s flagship Nightbeat newscast and became one of South Texas’ most trusted and recognizable news voices. Known for her calm authority, clarity in breaking news, and strong connection to the community, Jimenez has built a reputation for focusing on issues most important to viewers while holding leaders accountable and centering the people most affected.

“Stephania is the kind of journalist viewers immediately trust,” said Ana Lastra, News Director at KPRC 2. “She brings credibility, warmth, and a deep respect for the audience, and she isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions on their behalf. Her experience leading major newscasts, combined with her connection to diverse communities, makes her a perfect fit for Houston and for the future of KPRC 2 News.”

Jimenez joined the KSAT Nightbeat anchor team in September 2021 from NBC10 Philadelphia WCAU. She was hired at WCAU in July 2018, working as a weekend morning anchor and reporter.

Her previous experience also includes serving as an evening news anchor at KRIS 6 News in Corpus Christi and as an investigative and consumer reporter and anchor at NBC Connecticut (WVIT). Jimenez began her on-air broadcast career in Texas at KTSM 9/KDBC in El Paso.

Former KPRC anchor Dan O'Rourke, who worked with Jimenez in El Paso, says she is a great coworker and a serious-minded journalist.

A Syracuse University graduate, Jimenez started her journalism career behind the scenes as a producer and writer at Fox News Radio in New York City before transitioning into on-air roles.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jimenez is bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing her to connect authentically with a wide range of audiences.

Daniella Guzman joins the morning newscast, KPRC 2 Houston News Today, starting Monday, December 1, 2025, as co-anchor with Sofia Ojeda.

UPDATE DECEMBER 2025
Stephania Jimenez joins KPRC 2 from KSAT12

That means KPRC is auditioning new anchors to co-anchor Guzman's now former evening shift with Keith Garvin.

Ojeda posted this promo about the KPRC 2 morning anchor changes.

Guzman takes over for Owen Conflenti, who left KPRC 2 on Halloween.

Daniella Guzman moving to KPRC 2 mornings

Daniella Guzman

Houston, TX – November 11, 2025 – KPRC 2 today announced that Daniella Guzman will move to the morning anchor desk, joining Sofia Ojeda as co-anchor of KPRC 2 News Today beginning December 1, 2025.

- Owen Conflenti leaves KPRC 2 Houston
- Watch the first Guzman morning promo

The move marks an intentional step in KPRC 2’s strategy to strengthen and refresh its morning newscasts, offering viewers a faster-paced, more dynamic blend of news, weather, and traffic coverage that helps Houston prepare for the day ahead.

“Daniella’s extensive experience anchoring morning news in Chicago and Los Angeles brings tremendous value to our newsroom,” said Ana Lastra, News Director, KPRC 2. “Her warmth, energy, and deep connection to Houston make her the perfect partner for Sofia as we evolve our mornings to better serve viewers.”

Guzman, a Houston native, returned to KPRC 2 in 2022 after spending more than a decade with NBC 5 Chicago and NBC 4 Los Angeles. She is a multiple Emmy Award-winning journalist and active community volunteer, known for her approachable style and passion for telling stories that uplift and inform.

“I’m thrilled to join Sofia and our talented morning team,” said Guzman. “Mornings in Houston are vibrant and full of energy, and I’m excited to help our viewers start their day with the news and information that matters most to them.”

This change is part of KPRC 2’s ongoing initiative to reimagine its morning newscast, with a focus on viewer-centered storytelling, live coverage, and community solutions that support the station’s mission to make Houston a better place to live.

Owen Conflenti leaves KPRC 2 Houston

Owen Conflenti

Owen Conflenti has left his longtime KPRC 2 morning anchor position, along with others (more details below), and no, this is not a Halloween evening trick.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2025
Daniella Guzman moving to KPRC 2 mornings

Multiple sources informed me this morning that Conflenti, who has been on the morning newscast since 2005, was no longer there.

I asked KPRC 2 for comment, and three or so hours later, the station posted an article on its website saying that Conflenti and the station had parted ways.

"We appreciate Owen’s many contributions to KPRC 2 and the Houston community," new KPRC 2 VP/General Manager Sean McLaughlin said online.

"After 20 years, my time at KPRC 2 has come to an end. I’m so grateful to the viewers who welcomed me into their homes each morning, to my coworkers who became family, and to the station for two incredible decades," Conflenti said in an online statement.  "Thank you, Houston, for the privilege of sharing your stories."

And here I just posted my affections for Conflenti last week.  Hopefully, the station did not hold that against him, as they are no longer directly responding to my inquiries.

The station says while it "works to name a permanent replacement, various members of the KPRC 2 News team will join morning anchor Sofia Ojeda on the desk."

Conflenti is the longest tenured anchor at Channel 2.

What KPRC did not post online is that it has also apparently let go of two of its new Managers of Content and Coverage, or MCC positions, according to multiple sources.

As someone who is sitting here writing about recent layoffs in radio and TV, one has to wonder if this is all a cost-cutting measure?

Oddly enough, KPRC has a history of dropping anchor news on Halloween.  Back in 2022, just as now, I was busy blogging about big anchor changes as trick-or-treaters prepared to hit the streets in search of candy.

For 20 years, Conflenti has co-anchored the KPRC 2 News Today morning news.

Before joining KPRC 2, he served as the weekend anchor at WNCT in Greenville, North Carolina.

A native of Pittsburgh, Conflenti graduated from Central Catholic High School before earning his Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston.

Proud of his Italian heritage, Conflenti also hosts an annual fundraising luncheon for the Italian Cultural and Community Center of Houston. A passionate Houston Texans fan, he’s known for his playful banter with rival fans in the NRG Park Orange Lot and for his friendship with Texans mascot Toro, which led to a series of popular TikTok videos during the pandemic.

He is married and the father of four.

Conflenti recently missed a month of work as he had surgery to repair a hernia.

Could KPRC 2 open a coffee shop?

You may drink your coffee while watching KPRC 2 Houston with anchors such as the morning duo of Owen Conflenti and Sofia Ojeda, but one day, maybe you will be able to actually have a cup of joe with them!

Local 4 WDIV Detroit, a sister station of Graham Media Group's KPRC, is opening Fourgrounds, described by the station as "a one-of-a-kind coffee shop experience in the heart of downtown Plymouth, Michigan."

WDIV adds:

Fourgrounds is where community connection meets trusted journalism — one cup at a time. We’re building more than just a café. We’re creating a space where news and real life come together.

“At Fourgrounds, we’re bringing journalism out from behind the screen and into your daily rhythm — as familiar and approachable as your morning coffee,” said Bob Ellis, our Vice President and General Manager. “We want our reporting to be accessible, rooted in community, and part of the conversations that matter most.”

In the same way that CBS has been incorporating Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality into its stations and FOX has been adding local shows to its stations, perhaps the Graham Media Group's local coffee house idea will be introduced to the company's other stations and its own Houston NBC affiliate. Twogrounds on I-69, anyone?

WDIV will utilize Fourgrounds, a satellite location for its newsroom, and will host “Coffee with the Newsroom” events featuring our Local 4 anchors and reporters. Additionally, the TV coffee shop will serve as the studio for the station's lifestyle show, "Live in the D."

The last part hits close to home because when KPRC's lifestyle show "Houston Life" debuted in 2016, it was broadcast live from the Houston Galleria, right next to Nordstrom. So Channel 2 has experience with this type of production.

If Twogrounds actually opens one day, I will be one of the first customers, and I don't even like coffee!

Christine Noël joins FOX 31 Denver

Christine Noël

Christine Noël announced she will join FOX 31 Denver KDVR as an evening co-anchor with Jeremy Hubbard starting January 22, 2025.

Here is what Noël said online:

"Denver, I’m (finally) baaack! I’m thrilled to announce I’ve joined the incredible team at @fox31denver — starting Jan 22nd, you can catch me alongside the incomparable @jeremyhubbard on FOX31 News at 5,9 & 10pm.

When I moved back to Denver from Houston, I just kept praying the right position would open.

During that time, my husband and I welcomed a beautiful son into the world and I have loved every moment of being fully present at home with him.

Then God opened this door and I knew it was the right time and the right place—  and I couldn’t be more excited to share your stories in a place I call home.

I’ve missed you, Colorado! Thank you for the warm welcome back to the airwaves #KDVR #Colorado #News"

I've been waiting for this moment, as Noël hinted in the past that she would be back anchoring TV news.

Houston television viewers will recognize Noël from her years at KPRC 2 were she anchored the afternoon newscasts from February 2019 to November 2022.

Noël's departure from KPRC occurred amid a series of anchor changes at the station in late 2022. Lisa Hernandez transitioned from morning anchoring to afternoons, while Sofia Ojeda, who had left KPRC earlier that summer, returned to take over Hernandez's role on KPRC 2 News Today with Owen Conflenti.

Before channel 2 Houston, Noël was a morning anchor for 9News KUSA Denver.

Prior to her time in Denver, the Hope College graduate built her career at WCCB 18 Charlotte and WZZM 13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Guess which other former Houston anchor works for FOX 31?  Vicente Arenas, who worked for ABC13 KTRK, KHOU 11 and later CBS News.

Daniella Guzman goes to mornings?

Daniella Guzman

Daniella Guzman is trading in her evening newscasts for early mornings — at least for this week.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2025
Daniella Guzman moving to KPRC 2 mornings

RELATED
- Watch out TV news consultants!
- Where is Candace Burns on KPRC 2?

Starting today, the KPRC 2 Houston evening anchor fills in for morning anchor Owen Conflenti.

UPDATE: KPRC viewers tell me that Conflenti returned with Guzman and morning co-anchor Sofía Ojeda was seen on Guzman's normal evening newscasts.  I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist here, but it all kinda makes me wonder if they are trying out different anchor pairs and watching the reaction.  If I'm wrong, I will just start watching New Jersey drone videos with my tinfoil hat on.

"Yes, I'm saying good morning," she posted in a Facebook video.  "Do you know how long it's been since I have had a cup of coffee on a set like this?  It’s almost 5:00 in the morning, and I’m filling in for the morning show, and so I'm off nights for this whole week."

Guzman's 5, 6, and 10 p.m. viewers will notice her absence during the week as she temporarily shifts to mornings, but these aren't exactly new hours for the seasoned anchor. Before returning to Houston night TV, Guzman was no stranger to morning shows, having anchored for the NBC-owned stations in Chicago and Los Angeles.

"I love morning shows! They’re a lot of fun," Guzman said with a smile.

While her evening audience will miss her for a week, Guzman is excited to join her KPRC 2 morning colleagues, including Sofia Ojeda at the AM newsdesk.

"A lot of people taking off, we're all helping each other out," she added.

KPRC 2 replaces 10am news with Drew Barrymore

KPRC 2 Houston will replace its new 10 a.m. newscast with "The Drew Barrymore Show" starting August 12, 2024, when the Olympics coverage ends.

"We are thrilled to bring The Drew Barrymore Show to our audience," said KPRC 2 VP/General Manager Phil Lane. "Drew's unique blend of optimism, humor, and heartfelt conversations aligns perfectly with our mission to provide uplifting and engaging content."

"KPRC 2 News Today at 10am" was launched in September 2023 along with a new 3pm newscast.

The 10am news crew of  Owen Conflenti, Sofia Ojeda, Justin Stapleton, and Justina Latimer will remain on the KPRC 2 morning news from 5am to 7am and offer reports throughout the day.

"The 10am will not be all news," Ojeda posted at the time of the 10am newscast launch.  "There will be lighthearted stories and lots of moments KPRC2 Owen Conflenti and I will share with y’all on daily topics and what everyone is talking about."

According to the show's website, "The Drew Barrymore Show" airs weekdays at 3 a.m. on CW39 Houston KIAH.

Fans of Barrymore might want to watch her play the Texas city name game and do the local DFW weather segment which I've featured before on this blog.

Gotera was a guest with Sr. Director of Events John Coppins where the sporty duo served as the first week's guests on the brand new "KPRC 2 News Today at 10am" with Owen Conflenti and Sofia Ojeda.

"KPRC 2 News Today at 10am" and 3pm news debut in September 2023

"KPRC 2 News Today at 10am" debuts Monday, September 11, 2023 as well as KPRC 2 News at 3pm.

I found out that "Today With Hoda & Jenna" will be moved to 11am where "KPRC 2 News Midday "followed by a repeat of "Entertainment Tonight" at 11:30am currently air.

UPDATE 8-30-2023
KPRC 2 is also adding a half-hour 3pm newscast starting 9-11-2023 replacing "Dr. Phil."  The above mentioned "Entertainment Tonight" rerun will air at 3:30pm now. The channel 2 Houston 3pm newscast will be anchored by Andy Cerota, Lisa Hernandez and meteorologist Justin Stapleton.

For those keeping score, this is one of those newscast additions I hinted about back in July.

Morning anchors Owen Conflenti and Sofia Ojeda will be behind the anchor desk, and the above video is of the AM duo rehearsing for the new newscast.

"The 10am will not be all news," Ojeda posted.  "There will be lighthearted stories and lots of moments KPRC2 Owen Conflenti and I will share with y’all on daily topics and what everyone is talking about."

Conflenti says in the above video that meteorologist Justin Stapleton will contribute his beer segment to the newscast.

This is an actual over-the-air TV newscast addition...not a new streaming show for KPRC 2+.

As for streaming, Conflenti and Ojeda are apparently handing their 7am KPRC2+ show over to medical reporter Haley Hernandez and consumer reporter Amy Davis.

Just last week, "KPRC2+ Now" at 9 debuted with Zach Lashway and Hernandez.

The streaming-only KPRC 2+ debuted in April of 2022.

KPRC 2 dumped its 4:30am newscast in January of 2023.

Cathy Hernandez and Brittany Jeffers new KPRC 2 weekend morning anchors?

KPRC 2 Houston weekend morning newscast viewers saw Cathy Hernandez and Brittany Jeffers behind the news desk Sunday, and from what mikemcguff.com understands, this is the new permanent 2023 "KPRC 2 News Today" weekend morning anchor team along with longtime meteorologist Khambrel Marshall.

UPDATE APRIL 2023
Cathy Hernandez and Brittany Jeffers make it official

Hernandez and Jeffers apparently are not just fill-in anchoring as they have been off and on (with a mix of other KPRC talent), after Sofia Ojeda left the newscast last summer.

No word on which newscast Sabirah Rayford, who was hired to anchor the KPRC 2 News Today weekend morning news in 2021, will anchor from this point on.  Either way, she will still be a reporter during the week based on her normal schedule.

Hernandez joined KPRC as a temporary reporter from KDVR and KWGN Denver in 2015.
