Changes at 820 WBAP’s morning news

News Talk 820 WBAP’s Morning News in Dallas - Fort Worth is getting some changes. Ernie Brown moves from the 9am slot to the 5 to 9am morning show with Hal Jay.

“Miles in the Morning” let go from 98.7 KLUV

On August 12, 2022, Casey Bartholomew, the program director for News/Talk 98.9FM and 1400AM KFRU Columbia, Missouri and a nationally known radio talk show host according to his Twitter bio, announced he's taking over Ernie Brown's former slot.

"Effective Monday I will be the 9a-11a host on News Talk 820 WBAP in Dallas, Texas," Bartholomew tweeted.  "There are probably 3 places I would’ve left my current position for, and this was one of them. Looking forward to the challenge."

Bartholomew has hosted talk shows on other stations including KFI AM 640 Los Angeles, "New Jersey 101.5" WKXW Trenton and "92.5 Right All Along" WFSX Fort Myers, Florida.

In the release below, there is no mention of what is happening to host Brian Estridge who has been with the show since 2009 according to Wikipedia.

All Access is reporting that Brown is replacing Estridge.

There is no mention of any of this on Estride's social media.  What he is talking about there is his work as Voice of the TCU Horned Frogs. Estridge has been the TCU voice for for more than two decades.

Bruce Collins, WBAP Program Director, said: “Ernie is exactly what we were looking for. He’s the ultimate professional broadcaster that knows how to relate to the audience and understands the biggest stories of the day that resonate with our target audience. We’re excited to have him as our new morning show leader.”

Brown commented: “We’ll talk about the issues that matter to WBAP listeners: inflation, gas prices, grocery prices, supply chain shortages, your money, covid, and of course the Cowboys!” He noted: “I’ve worked at great stations and organizations all over the country including KOGO in San Diego, America’s Radio News in Washington, D.C., Western Journal – Phoenix, and KOMO in Seattle and hosted a national late night talk show called America at Night. This is an incredible opportunity to get to work with Hal Jay and the talented WBAP morning team. I want to thank Cumulus DFW RVP/Market Manager Dan Bennett and PD Bruce Collins.”
