Saturday, March 2, 2024, the same day as the sold-out Houston premiere of my 101 KLOL documentary "Runaway Radio" (now streaming), Houston media celebrities attended the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Celebrity Dairy Goat Milking Contest presented by the Sheep and Goat Committee.
I participated in this contest only once, in 2014. I got on the scoreboard but didn't come close to winning, and the experts kept telling me to keep my hands warm.
Tessa Barrera of KPRC 2's Houston Life and "The Rod Ryan Show" on 94.5 The Buzz KTBZ emceed the media milking madness.
Erik Scott Smith from the 100.3 The Bull KILT AM show "The Morning Bullpen with George Mo and Erik" took home the Champion title for the 2024 Celebrity Dairy Goat Milking Contest. The Reserve Champion honors went to Dr. Bryan Blonder, a Vice President of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ and Officer in Charge of the Sheep and Goat Committee.
The Houston media stars who also participated (and there might have been more; this is all I could find listed):
KHOU 11 morning anchor Stephanie Simmons
FOX 26 KRIV weekend morning meteorologist Allison Gargaro
Sarah Pepper and Jessie Watt of Mix 96.5 KHMX mornings
Andy “Riggs” Riggle of 93Q KKBQ mornings
Audrey Rose of 104.1 KRBE
Darrin Clifton of the Houston Press
The Prairie View A&M Show Team sponsored the dairy goats.
