Sonia Azad has joined Dr. Phil's Merit Street Media AM newscast Morning on Merit Street with Dominique Sachse and Fanchon Stinger.
Azad will cover health, wellness, fitness, and nutrition on WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth's Daybreak morning newscast, as she did for many years.
"I’ll be regularly contributing to the show, which is part of Dr. Phil’s new network," Azad posted on Instagram. "We’ll be in 80 million homes by the end of the month!! God’s vision for my life was bigger than I was able to imagine. I’ve been trusting— and life keeps delivering...I was in a room today with Dr. Phil, Steve Harvey, Nancy Grace and Chris Harrison."
Since leaving WFAA in December 2022, Azad has been producing a health-focused podcast called "The Shift with Sonia Azad" (watch in the above video), which she says will continue.
In October 2015, Azad joined WFAA as Janet St. James' successor as the health reporter, following her departure from abc13 KTRK earlier that March. A little trivia, Azad joins former abc13 employee Haddie Djemal on Morning on Merit Street.
She started working for abc13 in June 2009.
