Keith Russell has apparently left his morning anchor role with CBS 11 KTVT Dallas-Fort Worth, now CBS News Texas.
Russell's bio is off the KTVT website, and his station-branded X account has been deactivated.
A DFW TV viewer told me that reporter Steve Pickett has been anchoring in Russell's place.
Like Russell, his former morning co-anchor, Brooke Katz, suddenly disappeared from the KTVT airwaves and website one day in November 2023. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but traffic anchor Madison Sawyer has been anchoring in Katz's place since then.
Russell left sports and, along with Katz, joined the morning show in January 2022 when Karen Borta moved to the station's 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. newscasts.
KTVT hired Russell in March 2015 to take over evening sports from Babe Laufenberg. He also hosted the Dallas Cowboys Gameday Pre-Game show on Sunday mornings and reported on the NFL team.
Russell has an extensive TV news background, working as a sports anchor for FOX 29 News Philadelphia WTXF, CNN, 6abc Action News WPVI Philadelphia, ESPN, NBC 10 WJAR Providence, CBS 12 News WJTV Jackson, and WHLT 22 Hattiesburg, the latter two both in Mississippi.
He was a news anchor/reporter for NBC4 Washington WRC in between sports.
A graduate of Morgan State University in Baltimore, Russell is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
