Collin Myers returns to Houston at KPRC 2

Collin Myers

Collin Myers returns to Houston TV at KPRC 2 as a meteorologist starting September 14, 2026.

Sorry, DFW viewers, we got him back.

- KPRC 2 expands 3pm newscast to one hour
- Anthony Yanez is sticking around at KPRC 2 Houston

The KPRC 2 press release sent to me early on Labor Day morning did not mention Myers' new position at Channel 2.  So don't assume he is going to the empty weekend morning slot left open by Brittany Begley's departure. There will be lots of changes coming to KPRC with the debut of ENOUGH and the station's 9pm streaming newscast, which I will have more for you soon. Stay tuned. And I am told by multiple sources that no meteorologists are leaving either.

“Coming back to Houston feels like coming home,” Myers said. “I know how quickly weather can change here and how much viewers depend on having someone they trust when conditions become dangerous. I’m excited to be back serving this community and joining the KPRC 2 team.”

If you read this very blog, you know Myers has been filling in for WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth since December 2025.

I've been blogging about Myers for years, and, to my recollection, the last time he appeared on Houston TV was when he was filling in at FOX 26 KRIV in 2021.

Naturally, Houston audiences will best know Myers from his years with ABC13 KTRK from 2017 to 2021. And now he is working with KPRC part-time meteorologist Rachel Briers, also previously with Channel 13.

Myers joined KTRK shortly after Hurricane Harvey in 2017, following the departure of meteorologist Casey Curry. He spent four years at ABC13 as a weekend morning meteorologist.

“Houston weather demands experience, urgency and a real understanding of the communities we serve,” said KPRC 2 News Director Ana Lastra. “Collin knows this region, understands the challenges that come with forecasting along the Gulf Coast and shares our commitment to helping viewers stay prepared and safe.”

After leaving Houston, Myers spent approximately five years in the Dallas-Fort Worth television market. His work included forecasting and anchoring coverage of severe weather outbreaks, tornadoes, and winter storms.

He worked with the CBS Station Innovation Lab on the syndicated CBS NOW program, alongside current KHOU 11 weekend morning anchor Trason Bragg. The program was eventually shut down.

Myers' Texas television career began at CBS Austin's KEYE, where he worked weekends with Adela Uchida (former ABC13 weekend anchor) from 2015 to 2017 before moving to Houston. Maybe Channel 13 management was watching the Austin TV duo?!

Before coming to Texas, Myers worked at WIBW 13 in Topeka, Kansas, where he served as a weekday meteorologist and storm chaser. He had previously worked with WIBW as a contractor earlier in his career.

The Kansas native also interned at KOCO 5 in Oklahoma City while attending the University of Oklahoma. Myers earned his degree from OU, where he studied aerospace engineering, meteorology, and advanced theoretical physics.

His interest in severe weather is personal as well. Myers experienced the devastating 2013 EF5 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, an event that reinforced his commitment to communicating potentially life-saving weather information to viewers.

He is also an experienced storm chaser and has documented 14 tornadoes.

Bonus fact:  Months before the game show ended its long-running original run in 2019, Myers appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire as a contestant.

KPRC 2 expands 3pm newscast to one hour

KPRC 2 Houston

Beginning Monday, September 7, 2026, KPRC 2 Houston News at 3 will expand from 30 minutes to a full hour.

- Collin Myers returns to Houston at KPRC 2

The expanded newscast will air from 3 to 4pm with Andy Cerota and Rachel Briers while Caroline Brown is on maternity leave, replacing the Entertainment Tonight rerun that had occupied the 3:30pm half-hour.

The expansion comes three years after KPRC 2 first launched its 3pm newscast. The half-hour KPRC 2 News at 3 debuted on September 11, 2023, replacing Dr. Phil in the afternoon lineup.

The original 3pm team included anchors Andy Cerota and Lisa Hernandez, along with meteorologist Justin Stapleton, who has since moved to the station's morning newscasts.

ABC13 KTRK debuted 3pm news in 2018.  The Channel 13 3pm news remains a half-hour.

Caroline Brown gives birth to baby #2

Caroline Brown

Caroline Brown and her husband, Jack Chadderdon, have welcomed another addition to their family.

The couple welcomed their second child, George David Chadderdon, on August 5, 2026.

George's arrival means the couple's first son, Jack Jr. (“JJ”), has officially been promoted to big brother.

Brown and Jack announced they were expecting their second child last fall, revealing that their two boys would be about 18 months apart. Brown later announced in February 2026 that she was pregnant with her second son.

Their first child, JJ, was born in February 2025.

Brown and Jack married in March 2024 after getting engaged in Miami in 2023.

While Brown is away following the birth of her son, Rachel Briers joined KPRC 2 in July on a part-time basis to fill in for her.

Caroline Brown goes on maternity leave 2026

Caroline Brown

Caroline Brown announced she is leaving the KPRC 2 Houston weather department for maternity leave.

"I can’t believe it’s already time to welcome Baby George into the world," the KPRC 2 meteorologist posted.  "We are so excited to officially become a family of four!  I’ll be off the air for a short time  while I soak up this special time with my boys, but I’ll be back on KPRC later this fall!"

As we learned last week, Rachel Briers is joining KPRC part-time to fill in while Brown is off the air.

Brown announced she was pregnant with her second son back in February 2026.

She gave birth to her baby boy, Jack Jr. (“JJ”), in February 2025.

Brown married Jack Chadderdon in March 2024. The Browns were engaged in Miami in 2023.

Kelly Wiley joins KPRC 2 Houston

Kelly Wiley joined the KPRC 2 Houston investigative team in July 2026 after five years at KXAN Austin.

She most likely replaces Robert Arnold, who left KPRC in June.

Wiley spent the past five years as an investigative reporter with KXAN, joining the station in July 2021. During her time in Austin, she covered accountability stories and in-depth investigations before announcing her departure in July 2026.

Before KXAN, Wiley was an investigative reporter at KPRC's Graham Media Group sister station WJXT in Jacksonville, Florida, from 2019 to 2021. While there, she earned an Emmy Award for an investigation into a local Catholic diocese's decision to hire a priest who had previously been cited in a Pennsylvania grand jury report for failing to report allegations of sexual abuse within the church.

Her reporting in Jacksonville also prompted a state investigation into the diocese's handling of a sexual abuse allegation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wiley's reporting revealed that vaccine distribution efforts had overlooked low-income senior housing communities, leading to a grassroots effort to bring vaccines to residents living in Jacksonville Housing Authority properties.

Wiley began her television news career at WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia, where she worked from 2015 to 2019 as an investigative reporter and evening anchor. Her investigations uncovered a school district hiring bus drivers with poor driving records despite its own policies and identified polling places that lacked proper accessibility for voters with disabilities. She also produced the investigative series Invisible Barriers, which highlighted deteriorating and missing sidewalks throughout downtown Augusta that created obstacles for people with disabilities. Her work earned two Georgia Associated Press Awards for specialized reporting and series reporting.

A Columbia, South Carolina, native, Wiley comes from a family of educators and is the daughter and sister of teachers. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in political science.

Before beginning her professional career, Wiley interned with WIS-TV in Columbia and WSOC-TV in Charlotte.

(Thanks, Taylor!)

Rachel Briers joins KPRC 2 Houston

Rachel Briers is returning to Houston television, joining KPRC 2 as a part-time meteorologist.

"I am very lucky that KPRC is giving me the flexibility to work part-time so I can still spend plenty of time with my kids," Briers told mikemcguff.com.  "It’s definitely a win-win to be able to dedicate myself to a job that I love but, more importantly, to my kids."

"I have some exciting news to share," KPRC2 Houston chief meteorologist Anthony Yanez posted.  "Please join me in welcoming Rachel Briers to the KPRC 2 Weather team! We are so happy to have Rachel joining us. She’s a talented meteorologist, and a wonderful person. She’ll be on TV and streaming in two weeks. Welcome to the team, Rachel!

A source tells mikemcguff.com that Briers will fill in for meteorologist Caroline Brown, who is preparing to begin maternity leave. She is expected to appear on KPRC 2's noon, 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. newscasts and on other newscasts as needed.

The move marks Briers' return to broadcasting after stepping away from ABC13 KTRK in December 2025 to become a stay-at-home mom. The part-time role at KPRC will allow her to balance her career with the family flexibility she has been seeking.

During her seven years forecasting Houston weather, Briers welcomed two daughters while continuing her work on the air. She joined ABC13 in December 2018 and earned three Emmy Awards during her tenure.

Before arriving in Houston, Briers worked at NewsWest 9 KWES in Midland-Odessa and KLBK in Lubbock.

A Plano native, Briers earned her degree in Atmospheric Sciences from Texas A&M University. While in college, she gained experience through internships at WFAA 8 in Dallas-Fort Worth and KBTX News 3 in Bryan-College Station.

"Weather is one of the most important services we provide our viewers," said Ana Lastra, News Director at KPRC 2. "Rachel's experience, local knowledge and passion for serving this community make her a tremendous addition to KPRC 2 Weather. Together, we'll continue helping Houstonians prepare for what's ahead and making Houston better through the trusted journalism our community depends on."

- Brittany Begley no longer with KPRC 2 Houston
