Peyton Galyean joins FOX 26 Houston

Peyton Galyean is joining FOX 26 Houston KRIV as a freelance weather anchor to help fill in when Allison Gargaro goes on maternity leave.

Here is what Galyean posted on social:

"Excited to announce I’ve accepted a temporary weather anchor position at FOX 26 in my hometown of Houston, Texas! I’ll be helping out the amazing weather team this fall and rest of hurricane season.

My dream has always been to come back home and work in the city that gave me my love for weather, this is just a huge step towards the end goal. See you Saturday and Sunday mornings along with some weekdays on digital/streaming starting the end of September!"

Most recently, Galyean served as a freelance meteorologist at KOKH FOX 25 in Oklahoma City.

Prior to that, Peyton was a Digital Meteorologist at The Weather Company, where she contributed to digital weather content and storytelling, and a Weather & Climate Intern at CNN in Atlanta.

During her time at the University of Oklahoma, Peyton anchored forecasts for OU Nightly, the university’s student-run newscast, while also interning at KOCO 5 in Oklahoma City and HailTrace.

She is completing her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma.

Angie Rodriguez joins FOX 26 Houston

In a 2019 Houston high school graduate story by Houston Public Media, the Clear Creek High School grad was featured as someone who fought a lot of adversity:

"At 18 months old, she was diagnosed with congenital cataracts, leaving her 90% blind in her right eye and 85% in her left eye. From that point until she was five years old, she had five corrective surgeries in attempt to better her vision as much as possible. Then at 10 years old, Galyean fell from an indoor playground, resulting in an emergency surgery and a doctor telling her she would never regain full use of her arm. After six months of therapy, she proved her doctor wrong and in the seventh grade, Galyean picked up golf and this past March, she became the District 24-6A Individual Champion."
