Ryan Chase leaves 104.1 KRBE

Ryan Chase is no longer with 104.1 KRBE Houston's morning show after nearly 20 years, a source has told mikemcguff.com.

I emailed Chase, whose real name is Ryan Berrigan, along with the KRBE general manager and program director for a comment, but did not hear back.

Earlier this year, "The Roula & Ryan Show" was renamed "The Roula & Ryan Show with Eric."

Since I asked Chase and the KRBE management for comment Friday morning, later in the afternoon, they changed the station's website to reflect the new show called "The Roula Show with Eric ft. Special K & Sam."

The station has also since deleted Chase's station bio page, and his Instagram account has been deleted.

This is starting to sound reminiscent of my Owen Conflenti post a few weeks ago.

Chase's co-host, Roula Christi, a 2022 inductee into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, has won numerous Gracie Awards and hosts the nationally syndicated Westwood One show "Weekends with Roula."

In 2016, Chase announced he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

He is also featured in my 2024 Texas Independent Film Award-winning (TIFA) 101 KLOL documentary "Runaway Radio," which is streaming on Tubi and available on DVD.

There is no long-form bio for Chase available, so from this point on, I will piece together Chase's bio from interviews I have conducted with him and information I have gathered over the years.  Any official mainstream news outlet copying from me next week can thank me later.

Chase began his radio career at K-Fox 95.5 Lufkin while attending Stephen F. Austin State University.

When I interviewed Chase for my film, he told me that after leaving college, he worked the weekend overnight swing shift at MIX 96.5 KHMX.

It was after this that he secured his first job with 104.1 KRBE as a DJ.

There have been reports that Chase worked in Los Angeles radio, but I am not sure when or which station that was for.

Chase later worked for 92.3 K-Rock WXRK New York in the late 1990s, where Howard Stern was the morning show host. And Chase told me that during our interview, he had a chance to be a guest on Stern's show, which was important to him since Stern was his radio idol.

Around 1998, he left New York for 94.5 The Edge in Dallas-Fort Worth, where he worked mornings on "Jagger, Ryan and Michelle."

In 2003, Chase returned to MIX 96.5 and began working with Christie on "The Roula and Ryan Show," alongside producer Eric Rowe.

The morning show duo moved to 104.1 KRBE in 2006, taking over for Atom Smasher and Maria Todd.
