Corbin Voges is leaving his ABC 7 Chief Meteorologist role with KVII in Amarillo.
"I am not going anywhere, but I am getting out of TV," Voges posted. "Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for being there through the highs and lows over the past 7 years. I want to thank KVII for taking a chance on me helping me grow personally and professionally. If you see me out in public, don't be a stranger!"
Voges announced his departure after nearly seven years at the station, where he worked his way up from multimedia journalist to meteorologist, morning meteorologist, and ultimately chief meteorologist.
He joined KVII in August 2019 as a multimedia journalist, producing agriculture and weather-related stories while also forecasting weather for the Texas Panhandle. In June 2020, he moved into a full-time meteorologist role, where he covered severe weather, winter storms, and breaking weather events while providing forecasts across television and digital platforms.
In 2023, after working mornings, Voges was promoted to chief meteorologist at KVII, taking over for Joe Puma.
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Voges earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology in 2019.
Lee Baker has been with ABC 7 Amarillo KVII for 37 years, but left February 2025 after he said his Sinclair Broadcast Group job was eliminated.
"Coming up, my final sportscast at KVII-TV, ending 37 years at the station and nearly 42 in #Amarillo," Baker posted on X. "The sports director/sports anchor positions have been eliminated due to a change in the news format. TKS to all for following and see you on down the road."
This week, the Amarillo Independent School District honored him for his dedication and service to the community. The Texas Association of Broadcasters recently honored him for "Exemplary Service to the Texas Broadcast Industry and four decades in the air in Amarillo."
In 2018, Baker was inducted into the Lone Star Emmy Silver Circle.
According to his bio, he was the longest-serving sports anchor in Amarillo, with nearly 42 years in the market.
Baker began his broadcasting career in 1980, starting in radio in Farmington, New Mexico, selling ads and doing some play-by-play commentary.
In a 2018 interview with anchor David Bradley, Baker shared that a wisecrack landed him his first television job.
He joined KFDA NewsChannel 10 Amarillo in September 1983 before moving to KVII in March 1988.
Originally from Indiana, Baker served four years in the Navy and is a Vietnam veteran. He attended Indiana University.

Good Morning Illinois on WEEK 25 morning meteorologist Joe Puma heads to ABC7 KVII Amarillo as chief
Joe Puma is wrapping up his time this week for Good Morning Illinois on WEEK 25 (Peoria and Bloomington areas of Central Illinois) to take the chief meteorologist position at ABC7 KVII Amarillo, TX.
"I am beyond excited for this next opportunity in Amarillo, and hope you will stick around to follow me on my journey," Puma posted on Facebook. "It's an area with a wide array of weather from dust storms to wildfires to tornadoes. I can't wait for this new challenge and adventure."
Puma has been with the WEEK weather team since August 2017. He became an American Meteorological Society (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) in 2019.
The Illinois native started in TV at KTEN Denison as a meteorologist. He also interned with the Texas station.
He earned his BS in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma.
Puma takes the slot vacated in May 2020 by KVII chief met Steve Kersh. That same month, KVII midday meteorologist Alyssa Pawlak and Investigative Reporter/Anchor Niccole Caan left the station too.
No word on Kersh's whereabouts. (UPDATE SEPTEMBER 15, 2020) Thanks to Brad, an Amarillo television viewer, who updated us that Kersh announced his last night on channel 7 that he was going to work for Pantex Amarillo. I contacted Pantex and they confirmed that Kersh does indeed work there now.
Just days ago, Pawlak posted to her Facebook page for the first time since she left channel 7 to say that she was supposed to get married this month, but was not able to, presumably because of COVID-19.
Caan left for KENS 5 San Antonio as the TEGNA station's consumer investigative reporter.

Argo was most recently Director of Sales at the station, a position he has held since 2018.

Argo received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information, Networking, and Telecommunications from Fort Hays State University.
Madison Smith joins WLOS ABC 13 Asheville, NC as an anchor/reporter from Sinclair Broadcast Group sister-station ABC 7 Amarillo KVII.
At WLOS, Smith will be working on the Ask 13 franchise.
Smith joined KVII in August 2019 as weekend anchor/reporter.
The Houston native later moved up to morning anchor in March 2020 and then evening anchor in August 2021.
The Sam Houston State University grad worked as an on-air personality with ESPN 97.5 Houston and the school's 90.5 The KAT. She was also an anchor for Cable 7 news in Huntsville.
Lindsey Stiner joins Newschannel 10 KFDA Amarillo in May 2023 as 5, 6 and 10pm evening co-anchor with Greg Kerr (formerly of FOX 7 Austin KTBC).
"That's why I wanted to come to Newschannel 10, is they're they're all about local, all about the community," Stiner told Kerr in a station video. "And that's my favorite thing. I love our community. I've grown up here, I've worked here. I interact with the people. I love, the special needs community and getting out and interacting with our community. And that's what Newschannel 10 is all about."
This is a return to Amarillo television news for Stiner who has been working as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) after her son, Ryder, was diagnosed with ocular albinism with nystagmus shortly after his birth.
Stiner was previously the weekend anchor/producer "across the street" at ABC 7 Amarillo KVII (known as Pronews 7 back then) until 2014.
Before that she worked as a producer for WGME CBS 13 Portland, Maine and KVII.
The Amarillo College grad started her career as an editor/producer/reporter with NBC 4 KAMR Amarillo.
The Randall High School grad earned such honors as the 2008 Texas Associated Press Award, 2011 TASB Media Honor Roll from Clause ISD, the 2011-2012 TCTA Silver Apple Media Excellence Award and the 2011-2014 Amarillo Independent School District's Partners in Education Media Award.
Now a KENS 5 representative confirms to mikemcguff.com that Caan is joing the San Antonio TEGNA station as its consumer investigative reporter.
"I so appreciated everyone in the Panhandle welcoming me to Texas," Caan wrote on Facebook. "I have had the most amazing experience. Thank you for your support as I began my investigative career. Thanks for suffering my penetrating, difficult, a lot of times uncomfortable questions I had to ask some of you. It allowed me to find my passion."
Before KVII, Caan moved between television news and media relations, but for the sake of this blog, I will focus on the broadcast jobs.

Matt Ritter, will be helping out the ABC 7 Amarillo KVII weather team through August 18, 2024.
"I'm honored to be able to help my sister station out for a few weeks this summer," Ritter told mikemcguff.com. "It is a delight to be able to utter the phrase 'here in Texas' again while on the clock!"
Ritter works for Sinclair Broadcast Group's The National Weather Desk, is an announcer for the company's "Weather Window" and is a freelance meteorologist for ABC7 WJLA Washington, DC.
KVII is also owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
The Millersville University grad worked many years as a WGAL 8 Lancaster, Pennsylvania meteorologist.
He also got a taste of Texas as weekend meteorologist for News 25 KXXV Waco, Temple, Killeen during the Ray Peters and Ann Harder era.
That Central Texas experience was so positive that Ritter still vacations in the Lone Star State and is rumored to own a few Buc-ee's t-shirts.
Devyn Darmstetter announced she left her morning news anchor position with ABC 7 Amarillo KVII in February 2025.

James Muñoz is leaving his position as news director and anchor at 25 News Now KAVU in Victoria on December 17, 2025, and will relocate to Houston.
"I've enjoyed my time at KAVU-TV, and I'm excited about what awaits me in Houston," Muñoz told mikemcguff.com. "I've always wanted to live in Houston and look forward to connecting with family and friends there more often. My partner and I will make a few important family trips, and I'll be looking for that job with my name on it."
Muñoz has been with KAVU since 2017, first as a morning anchor, then as a news director in 2020.
San Antonio viewers will recognize Muñoz from his reporting days with KENS 5 from 2003 to 2014.
He previously served in roles ranging from news director to anchor/reporter at KSAN San Angelo, KTRE 9 Lufkin, 3News KIII Corpus Christi, and ABC7 KVII Amarillo.
A continuous learner and newsroom leadership advocate, Muñoz completed the Master Class for Media Managers at Loyola University Chicago in 2025 and is a 2024 Carole Kneeland Project Fellow. His additional training includes executive communications at the Annette Strauss Institute, newsroom leadership at the Poynter Institute, and a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Texas Tech University.
Muñoz previously served on the Rape Crisis Center in San Antonio's board and is an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the San Antonio Hispanic Journalists Association, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
