Stephanie Tsoflias over at TVSpy writes that KHOU is getting a new reporter - WAFB 9 News Baton Rouge, Louisiana anchor Cheryl Mercedes.
"It has been a privilege to tell your stories the last 12 years," Mercedes tweeted last week. "THANK YOU for inviting me into your homes and hearts. I am excited to announce I have accepted a job as member of the #KHOUInvestgates team."
Mercedes has been with the Baton Rouge television station since 2006. She started her TV career at KLFY Lafayette where she worked for three years.
The New Orleans native has an M.S. in Mass Communication from the University of Louisiana Lafayette and a B.A. in Mass Communication from Southeastern Louisiana University where she was a Magna Cum Laude graduate.
Clearly the new channel 11 reporter has lots of stamina. She has completed her first Ironman and has competed in dance competitions. After typing about this, I feel worn down, time for a nap.
According to her bio, Mercedes is married to a TV news photog, so maybe a Houston station is about to get a new photojournalist?
Her first day will be January 21, 2019.
(Thanks Taylor!)
