This one is for the hardcore Rock 101 KLOL or H-Town radio fans!
January 27, 2005 at noon was the debut of the short-lived Rock 97.5 (and then later 103.7) KIOL. You might remember it as the KLOL clone after the legendary Houston AOR station flipped to Mega 101 in November of 2004.
It featured such KLOL names as Walton and Johnson (mornings), Wendy Miller (mid-days), Outlaw Dave (afternoons with Elaine Closure) and Bobby “Slam” Duncan. I believe Grego came back for nights later on.
In honor of the anniversary, I've tried to write the definitive piece on both KIOL's rock days and sister station's 97.5 KFNC's talk days.
Click KIOL Rock 97.5 debuts in 2005 to read about the station's glimmer of hope for Houston rock radio fans and what led to its ultimate demise.
By the way, the KLOL documentary production is wrapping up!
This is probably be the last interview for the #101KLOL Documentary! We sat down with Dr. Betty Halpern who gave out tons of medical advice to Stevens and Pruett listeners for 11 years! #KLOL #Rock101KLOL #Houston pic.twitter.com/xWttE2P63F
