I started getting emails today about Ken Hoffman's radio show on 1560 The Game KGOW in Houston. Hoffman was saying his co-workers, David Nuno and Raheel Ramzanali (who he says he helped start their radio careers) left and started a show down the radio dial!

The malaprop-prone Maciborski looks as though he might be good for a few laughs. He also shows a willingness to laugh at his own brand of humor.
Salinas seemed mostly deferential for starters, but has a nice smile. It's early, though, and both anchors are still feeling their way through an hour-long newscast that still mostly measures up to one of the CW-affililated station's signature shows -- Smallville.
On Monday's newscast, departing reporter Norris Deajon's piece on "Finding work through Facebook" was the top-billed attraction. That's hardly surprising. Facebook stories have become ever-present on The 33, where the CW network's prime-time target audience is 18-to-34-year-olds.
That puts new University of North Texas grad Pelpina Trip near the top of the pecking order with her nightly Web-cruising "Pelpina's Picks" segments, during which she invariably touts a "Facebook application." Maciborski gamely teased Monday's dollop, but forgot a consonant in saying, "If you are ready to learn another language, you have a lot of option (sic) these days." READ THE REST
The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County has posted its routes on Google Transit’s online trip planning tool.

HTC has got a very smooth phone, which feels great on your hands and in your pants' pockets. While it's sightly thicker than the iPhone, the narrower, rounded body, and weight makes it feel the same size. For sure, a lot less bulky than the G1, which looks like a brick next to this. The office itself feels like 2000 … but more adult. These guys are smarter than we were. They have only 28 employees, and the office has few decorations, save for two green ceramic deer in the corner and papier-mâché hanging from the ceiling that reads EVERY TWEET COUNTS. A spread of organic cereals is ready for the few people in the office at 10 a.m. There’s a vintage Atari game by the window (Tempest, from 1981), but you have to ask someone to turn it on. I've noticed that Steve Simon has not been sitting behind the anchor desk much lately on Houston's 39 News KIAH? Don't worry, he is still on the newscast as a reporter though. Our CancerDiva is dead. Terry Hayes, an administrative assistant in the Chronicle's sports department whose award-winning blog for Chron.com detailed a year in the life of a cancer survivor, died Sunday night at a Houston hospice. She was 42. Hayes spent five years as one of the newspaper's essential support staffers, handling unseen but critical behind-the-scenes tasks, deflecting and distributing calls and complaints, and encouraging — on occasion, demanding — that co-workers live up to her fierce sense of duty and hard work.

n April 2006, she was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and was told she had about two years to live. Ten months later, she began "blogging the adventure" as CancerDiva, a name that she said reflected the "mix of darkness and light" that accompanied her battle for survival.

I was born in Houston and lived there until I was 18 years old. I agree that the people in Houston are nasty , rude, arrogant, and ignorant. I had to go to grade school with some of these people. I can't imagine how they are now as adults. I moved to Colorado after I graduated from college. I only visit Houston to see my family. I can only stay there for a week. Once I moved to another environment, I was able to look back and see how ugly the people were. I truely believe that many people who live in Houston develop a negative attitude early on in their lives. They tend to feed off of one another's rudness an stupidity. I am so happy that I don't live there anymore. I would suggest to anyone living in Houston for the jobs/housing; Save your money and move out of the city. I hear Austin is more civil. READ MORE

Miami Fox affiliate WSVN is famous in TV news circles for being very over the top. You might even recognize the station's set as the inspiration for the old News2Houston KPRC set.
At age 39, he is two months removed from open heart surgery to repair a defect that could have struck him down in the middle of the newsroom or, for that matter, in the middle of Galveston Island during Hurricane Ike.

Just wanted to point out that The Soup host Joel McHale is putting on a comedy show this weekend in Houston at The Verizon Wireless Theater. Brady, who has three children with his wife, Dr. Wesley Brady, said he "did some serious navel-gazing last year" after doing a number of stories about "technology and entrepreneurial things, and people who are planting the flag and trying to make a go of it."

JL Watkins' little lost robot blog is a great read - if nothing else for his robot fetish. Watkins was the guy behind the KPRC Channel 2 news promotions that aired during the Super Bowl. Twitter's initial stab at making money likely will come by April, although it won't be anything revolutionary, according to Evan Williams, the company's chief executive. The Dynamo will go digital this season, announcing plans today to air 17 regular-season games plus ancillary programming on KHOU’s digital signal at 11.2 over the air and channel 310 on Comcast cable.
The Dynamo-Channel 11 alliance is believed to be one of the first of its kind in Major League Soccer and one of the few in major league sports as TV stations prepare for the move to digital transmission and work to promote their secondary digital channels. READ MORE
On the local advertising front, I was surprised to see that KPRC (Channel 2) accepted an advertisement for AshleyMadison.com, the Web site that helps arrange extra-marital affairs for married men and women.
AshleyMadison.com bought time last year on KILT (610 AM) and the Houston Texans radio network, but the ads were dropped after the Texans objected.
I’m not sure how much Channel 2 was paid to shill for AshleyMadison.com Maybe I should call Larry Blackerby, the station’s general manager, and find out how much money you get paid these days for 30 seconds of encouraging people to cheat on their spouse. READ THE REST
