Kristin Walla joined KVUE in Austin in May 2026 as a weekend evening meteorologist.

I was not blogging when Walla headed to Central Texas, so here you go now.

You will also catch Walla on KVUE's weekday midday newscasts.

Walla began her television career at KIII in Corpus Christi in 2022, where she served as a weekend meteorologist for more than four years.

At KIII, Walla also produced annual half-hour hurricane specials and contributed to digital severe-weather coverage and nationally distributed weather segments for TEGNA's In the News streaming program.

Walla graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in December 2021. 

Before graduating from Texas A&M, Walla interned at KBTX in Bryan and KXAN in Austin.

Joel Robinson joins WZZM 13 On Your Side

Joel Robinson is leaving KYTX CBS19 Tyler, where he has served as the Morning Y’all meteorologist alongside anchors Dana Hughey and Jesus Martinez. 

"I am so thrilled to announce that I will be transferring to Grand Rapids, MI as the newest meteorologist for WZZM 13 On Your Side, a sister station of CBS19, where I will be working weekend evenings and portions of the morning newscast Wednesday through Friday," Robinson posted. "It’s been a pleasure to have served East Texas on weekday mornings and I want to thank everyone who has watched me for inviting me into their homes and allowing me to give your forecast and traffic each morning."

He will be replaced on CBS19 by Houston native and meteorologist Raul Garcia.

Robinson joined the CBS19 Weather Team in June 2025 as the station’s weekend meteorologist. By July, he moved to the morning shift after Sara Blue's departure.

Robinson earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma in May 2025. While at OU, he was active with OU Nightly, the university’s student-led newscast, and the Oklahoma Weather Lab. He also interned at WLNS in Lansing, Michigan, during the summer of 2024.

Robinson became interested in broadcast meteorology at 16 after shadowing Jamie Kagol, the former chief meteorologist at WEYI in Flint, Michigan. That experience inspired him to pursue a career in television weather.

He initially attended Central Michigan University, where he contributed written forecasts for the Genesee County Sentinel and delivered on-air weather reports for News Central 34. He later transferred to the University of Oklahoma to continue his studies in meteorology.

RAUL GARCIA JOINS KYTX CBS19

Taking over the Morning Y’all weather desk is Raul Garcia, a Houston native who graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2026. Garcia previously served as a broadcast meteorologist shadow with KBTX News 3 in Bryan-College Station and interned at News Channel 6 KAUZ in Wichita Falls.

Drew Davis joins WFAA 8 DFW

Drew Davis is joining WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth as a meteorologist in August 2026, where he interned in 2020.

Here is what Davis posted:

"Super excited to announce that I have joined the @WFAA weather team in DFW.

I grew up almost exclusively watching the legendary team at WFAA, and I am honored to work at such a storied news institution.

Importantly, this also brings my wife and I closer to family. We're both from DFW, just different sides of town. I got started on Monday, and can’t wait to dig in!"

I told you back in July how Davis was leaving his Hawaii News Now to return to North Texas. 

The Austin native joined Hawaii News Now in Honolulu in 2023 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in meteorology.

Davis began contributing remotely to Hawaii News Now in January 2023 while completing his final semester at Texas A&M in College Station. He relocated to Honolulu that June, spending the months leading up to the move studying the Hawaiian language and learning about the islands and their culture.

Before making the move to Hawaii, Davis was a member of the KBTX News 3 weather team in Bryan-College Station, serving as the station's first Meteorology Fellow. The Gray Television fellowship was established to help develop the next generation of meteorologists from Texas A&M. Davis joined KBTX in the summer of 2022 after previously working as a part-time weather anchor at KTEN 10 News in Sherman at just 19 years old while attending Texas A&M.

At Texas A&M, Davis earned perfect grades in all of his meteorology courses and received the university's Outstanding Graduating Senior Award. He also helped launch and lead the school's student television weather broadcasting program, where he mentored fellow students and gained hands-on experience with storm chasing, forecasting and broadcast production.

Drew Davis is leaving Hawaii News Now and returning to his home state of Texas.

Drew Davis joins WFAA 8 DFW

Here is a portion of what Davis posted on social:

"My last day at Hawaii News Now will be on Friday, July 31st. My wife and I are moving closer to family after living three amazing years in Hawaii, in which we originally planned to spend many more.

I’m being called to work closer to my family. My mother has battled, and beat, breast cancer over the last year and I’ve struggled to watch her experience this from afar. This new opportunity allows us to be closer to both of our families and care for them in times of need."

Davis' family lives in Dallas, and he said he will be taking a job closer to North Texas. 

The Austin native joined the Honolulu station in 2023 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in meteorology. He began contributing remotely to Hawaii News Now in January 2023 while finishing his final semester in College Station before relocating to Honolulu that June. During the transition, he studied the Hawaiian language and learned about the islands before moving.

Before heading to Hawaii, Davis was part of the KBTX News 3 weather team in Bryan-College Station, where he served as the station's first Meteorology Fellow. Ashley Bowerman joins KBTX Bryan-College Station

Ashley Bowerman joined KBTX News 3 in Bryan-College Station in July 2026 as evening anchor.

She co-anchors the station's 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Rusty Surette.

Bowerman returned to her home state of Texas after spending more than three years at Gray Media's Tucson duopoly, KOLD 13 News and FOX 11 KMSB. She joined the Arizona stations in June 2023, anchoring FOX 11 newscasts while reporting for both KMSB and KOLD.

Before her move to Tucson, Bowerman spent more than three years at WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, Alabama, where she served as a weekend evening anchor and reporter.

A San Antonio native, Bowerman graduated summa cum laude from Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in electronic media and a minor in mass communication.

During college, she held several leadership roles at KTSW 89.9 FM, serving as assistant news director, anchor, producer, and reporter for the campus radio station and student newscasts. She was also a member of the Texas State Strutters dance team and was honored as the university's Electronic Media Student of the Year.

Bowerman gained additional experience through internships at News 4 San Antonio WOAI and  FOX San Antonio KABB.

Rachel Briers joins KPRC 2 Houston

Rachel Briers is returning to Houston television, joining KPRC 2 as a part-time meteorologist.

"I am very lucky that KPRC is giving me the flexibility to work part-time so I can still spend plenty of time with my kids," Briers told mikemcguff.com.  "It’s definitely a win-win to be able to dedicate myself to a job that I love but, more importantly, to my kids."

"I have some exciting news to share," KPRC2 Houston chief meteorologist Anthony Yanez posted.  "Please join me in welcoming Rachel Briers to the KPRC 2 Weather team! We are so happy to have Rachel joining us. She’s a talented meteorologist, and a wonderful person. She’ll be on TV and streaming in two weeks. Welcome to the team, Rachel!

A source tells mikemcguff.com that Briers will fill in for meteorologist Caroline Brown, who is preparing to begin maternity leave. She is expected to appear on KPRC 2's noon, 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. newscasts and on other newscasts as needed.

The move marks Briers' return to broadcasting after stepping away from ABC13 KTRK in December 2025 to become a stay-at-home mom. The part-time role at KPRC will allow her to balance her career with the family flexibility she has been seeking.

During her seven years forecasting Houston weather, Briers welcomed two daughters while continuing her work on the air. She joined ABC13 in December 2018 and earned three Emmy Awards during her tenure.

Before arriving in Houston, Briers worked at NewsWest 9 KWES in Midland-Odessa and KLBK in Lubbock.

A Plano native, Briers earned her degree in Atmospheric Sciences from Texas A&M University. While in college, she gained experience through internships at WFAA 8 in Dallas-Fort Worth and KBTX News 3 in Bryan-College Station.

"Weather is one of the most important services we provide our viewers," said Ana Lastra, News Director at KPRC 2. "Rachel's experience, local knowledge and passion for serving this community make her a tremendous addition to KPRC 2 Weather. Together, we'll continue helping Houstonians prepare for what's ahead and making Houston better through the trusted journalism our community depends on."

Lauren Margolis joins FOX 35 Orlando

Lauren Margolis joined the FOX 35 Orlando WOFL team in September 2025 as a feature reporter for The 407.

Prior to returning to Central Florida, Margolis joined KBTX Bryan-College Station in September 2023, where she served as co-host and anchor of the station’s lifestyle program, The Three, airing weekdays at 3 p.m.

Earlier in her career, Lauren worked as an anchor and reporter at KETK and Fox 51 News in Tyler. During her two-and-a-half years in East Texas, she anchored morning, midday, and evening newscasts and frequently hosted the station’s lifestyle show, East Texas Live.

A native of Hollywood, Florida, Margolis earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Central Florida in 2020. While at UCF, she reported for UCF Knightly News and NSM Today, and interned at WKMG News 6, the CBS affiliate in Orlando.
