WEAR Pensacola anchor/reporter Hannah Mackenzie joins KPRC 2 as a freelance reporter

Hannah Mackenzie, a former anchor/reporter for WEAR Pensacola, FL, is joining KPRC as a freelance reporter.

"HOU-ge news! I’m heading back to my hometown where I’ve accepted a freelance reporter position with @KPRC2 - the station I grew up watching. So excited for this next chapter! #Houston here I come," Mackenzie tweeted.

So when I get asked who is replacing the recently departed KPRC 2 reporter Sophia Beausoleil, let's assume its Mackenzie. Or it could be a total coincidence - if you are around TV news long enough, you get this.

Mackenzie grew up in Houston, but is originally from Aberdeen, Scotland. She is not the only Houston TV reporter who immigrated to H-Town from Scotland. So did actor Daniel Craig's (you know James Bond) second cousin, KHOU 11 consumer reporter Tiffany Craig, who moved here from Dingwall, Scotland.

She left WEAR in October 2019 and started with the station in 2016.

David Gonzalez joins KHOU 11

WEAR Pensacola, Florida MMJ/Reporter/Anchor/Producer David Gonzalez joins KHOU 11 as an MMJ

The other day on social media, I posted about a recent local TV news Knight Foundation report that got a lot of notice. While I'm not dedicating an entire post to this topic on my blog, I did want to slip it into a TV news related post so here you go.

David González joins ABC7 KABC Los Angeles

The report says while local TV news is a profit center, there are some challenging days ahead:

"Future of local TV news: In order to continue to engage audiences, TV news needs to move away from the crashes and crime stories that dominate their coverage to offer more value for viewers, by producing more enterprise and investigative pieces that are critical to people’s everyday lives."

Back on topic at hand, maybe someone who will help pioneer changes in the TV biz is new KHOU 11 Multi-skilled Journalist (MMJ) David Gonzalez.

"I grew up watching the news in the morning before going to school," Gonzalez said in his bio. "I clearly remember moments that changed the world as we know it like the mass shooting at Columbine High School, the terrorists attacks on 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. I wanted to help those most affected. I became enthralled by the reporters who got to tell the stories of those most affected."

He arrives from Sinclair-owned WEAR in Pensacola, Florida where he has worked for the last three years as an MMJ/Reporter/Anchor/Producer (I'm sure KHOU doesn't want you holding his old stomping grounds against him).

Before that he worked at Nexstar owned KFDX Wichita Falls as a reporter.

He got his start in the TV news biz at Raycom owned KOLD Tucson, AZ.

Gonzalez earned a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in 2010.

According to his bio, he is a first generation American raised in Santa Ana, California in a traditional Hispanic household speaking Spanish. He is the first in his family to go to college. His parents are an inspiration to him.

"They immigrated from their respective countries in the 70s and 80s and gave my three sisters and I a great upbringing," Gonzalez said in his bio. "I want to make them proud with anything and everything I do."

Hannah Mackenzie has let us know her freelance reporting assignment with KPRC 2 is coming to an end as of July 10.

Hannah Mackenzie joins WLOS ABC 13 Asheville, NC  

"Being a Cypress native, it is disappointing KPRC management decided not to offer me a full time contract," Mackenzie told mikemcguff.com. "I’m back on the job hunt now, looking forward to my next chapter. My time here has allowed me to grow and learn as a journalist and who knows, hopefully you’ll see me back on the small screen in Houston in the not-so-distant future! Mackenzie returned to Houston to work at KPRC in January 2020.

The Edward R Murrow award-winning journalist previously worked as an anchor/reporter for WEAR Pensacola, FL.

“It’s been an amazing six months covering breaking news in the city I call home," Mackenzie added. "Explosions, water main breaks, protests, tornadoes and tropical storms...and perhaps the biggest news of my career: a global pandemic. It’s safe to say I’ve covered the gamut in the news world during my time in Houston."

Hannah Mackenzie is joining WLOS ABC 13 Asheville, NC as a nightside reporter.

"Yep, I’m moving from the sandy beaches of NWFL to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC — home of the renowned Vanderbilt Estate," Mackenzie posted on Facebook. "I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce I’ve accepted the role of nightside reporter at WLOS — A station with a stellar reputation for strong journalism and storytelling skills. It’s a perfect fit, and I can’t wait to get back in the saddle (& on the small screen)!"

KPRC 2 viewers will know Mackenzie from her stint with KPRC 2 as a reporter in 2020.

The Houston-raised reporter previously worked for WEAR Pensacola, FL as an anchor/reporter.

Grace White joins KHOU 11

Houstonian Grace White ready to come home and work for KHOU!

Fox San Antonio KABB and News 4 San Antonio WOAI anchor/reporter Grace White has announced she is returning home to Houston to work at  KHOU 11.

"Thrilled to join the team at KHOU! It's always been a dream to work in my hometown," White told mikemcguff.com. "Looking forward to reporting and having the chance to fill-in anchor at a station I grew up watching."

The Memorial High School grad has been in San Antonio for the last five years. Before the Alamo City, she worked at KLFY Lafayette, Louisiana and WEAR Pensacola, Florida.

Grace graduated from The University of Mississippi with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She interned at KTRK abc13 and the White House. After graduation, White traveled to Guatemala and Singapore as a member of the White House Press Advance Team.

She is a Lone Star Emmy and multiple Texas Associated Press Broadcasters award winner.

“Leaving San Antonio is so bittersweet," White told me. "It’s been five wonderful years here and I’m truly grateful to my WOAI and KABB family for the opportunities they gave me. I will never forget the incredible friends and viewers I met along the way. San Antonio will always hold a special place in my heart!

White starts at KHOU October 20th.

Liz Nagy joins ABC7 KABC Los Angeles

Liz Nagy joined ABC7 Los Angeles KABC in October 2025 from sister station ABC7 Chicago WLS, where she served as a general assignment reporter and contributed to the station’s investigative I-Team.

Like former ABC13 Houston reporter Kevin Ozebek, Nagy previously reported for KABC on loan during the Los Angeles wildfires, and now officially returns to Southern California as part of the station’s newsroom.

Nagy began her tenure at ABC7 Chicago in March 2016 as a per diem reporter and was promoted to staff general assignment reporter later that year. 

Before joining WLS, Nagy spent several years at WSVN 7 in Miami, working as a nightside reporter and fill-in anchor.

She previously helped launch the weekend morning newscast Three In The Morning at WEAR ABC 3 in Pensacola, Florida. 

Prior to that, she served as a weekend morning anchor and reporter at WVIR NBC29 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

A graduate of Elon University, Nagy began her career at WEIU-TV in Charleston, Illinois.

David González joins ABC7 KABC Los Angeles

David González is joining ABC7 KABC Los Angeles after leaving KHOU 11.  

Here is what González posted on social media about his new LA gig:

"No gimmicks. No agent. Just a kid with big dreams who is making them a reality.

This week I joined @abc7, the number 1 station in Southern California, as a reporter. After moving away 15 years ago, I am back home and will be reporting in my own backyard for a station I grew up watching.

To say I am damn proud of this achievement would be an understatement."

As he should be! Announced the same week...another Houston talent is heading to New York TV.

González joined KHOU 11 Houston back in April 2018 as a multi-skilled journalist (MSJ) from WEAR 3 Pensacola, Florida where he has worked as an MMJ/Reporter/Anchor/Producer.

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University grad previously worked in Texas as a reporter for KFDX 3 Wichita Falls. 

The Santa Ana, Californian native got his start in the television news business with KOLD 13 and Fox 11 KMSB Tucson, AZ.

David González is leaving KHOU 11 after four years for Los Angeles.

Here is what González posted to Instagram:

"I joined without a doubt in my mind 8 months after Harvey destroyed the station. I am so thankful for the chance to have worked alongside such amazing journalists. I admire you so much and have learned from so many of you. 

I wasn’t looking to leave Houston but have been overwhelmed and humbled by new opportunities. 

I can confidently say that KHOU has set me up for my next chapter as a journalist and for that, I am forever grateful."

He must not be able to say where he is going next, but based on his statement, I think we can guess he is heading to an LA TV station. 

González joined KHOU 11 in April 2018 as a multi-skilled journalist (MSJ).

He came from WEAR 3 Pensacola, Florida where he has worked as an MMJ/Reporter/Anchor/Producer.

The Santa Ana, California native previously worked in Texas as a reporter for KFDX 3 Wichita Falls. 

González got his broadcast biz start with KOLD 13 and Fox 11 KMSB Tucson, AZ.

He is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

Lina De Florias joins FOX 26

KTVK/KPHO Phoenix weekend anchor Lina De Florias joins FOX 26 KRIV as weekday morning anchor

Lina De Florias has joined FOX 26, announced station Vice President and News Director, Susan Schiller.

Effective September 24th, she will serve as a weekday morning anchor from 4 a.m. – 6 a.m., as well as report on various station newscasts.

In making the announcement, Schiller stated, “Lina brings unbridled passion and experience to the FOX 26 Morning News team. Viewers will find her to be refreshing as she delivers all the latest news and information to help them start the day.”

Most recently, De Florias served as a weekend anchor and reporter for KTVK/KPHO in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to that, she was the primary anchor for WEAR/ABC 3 in Pensacola, FL, where she earlier spent time as a traffic anchor and reporter. Previously, De Florias was a news, production, and social media intern for KTVK/3TV in Phoenix, AZ.

A graduate of Arizona State University, De Florias holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies.

De Florias added, “I’m so happy to be back on the Gulf Coast, and have fallen in love with the small town heart here in the city. I’m looking forward to keeping Houstonians informed and smiling.”

Grace White promoted to KHOU 11 Consumer Investigative Reporter

Grace White announced that she has been promoted to the KHOU 11 Houston Consumer Investigative Reporter role.

Here is what White, who has been a special assignments reporter/fill-in anchor, posted on Facebook:

"Excited to finally share — I’m starting a new chapter.

After 9 years reporting nightside for KHOU 11 News, I’m taking on a new role - Consumer Investigative Reporter. 

First and foremost, this gets me home at night to our 3 kids and to more Little League games.

Second, it fulfills a career dream of doing more investigative reporting full-time and helping people.

Thankful to God for this opportunity to continue doing what I love in my hometown."

White joined KHOU 11 in 2014 from News 4 San Antonio WOAI where she was an anchor/reporter. She previously worked as a reporter for WEAR ABC 3 Pensacola, Florida and KLFY NEWS 10 Lafayette, Louisiana.

Born and raised in Houston, White graduated from Memorial High School and the University of Mississippi.  She interned with abc13 KTRK.

The Lone Star Emmy reporter takes over from Tiffany Craig who filled the role of what was then called the KHOU 11 Consumer Advocate Reporter. Craig left the station after her mom's death from a battle with dementia.

Craig is now co-founder of AmareVida Move Managers, based in Kingwood, which helps with everything from sorting to packing and unpacking at the new home.

"AmareVida started as a home care company and we expanded to offer move management after listening to our care clients and their families," Craig tells me. "I didn't even know move management was a thing and I certainly had no clue there was a national organization helping companies figure it all out. I went through this very personal struggle with my own family and I really enjoy making the path smoother for those in transition."

AmareVida Move Managers recently became the newest member of The National Association of Senior & Specialty Move Managers (NASMM).

Grace White leaves KHOU 11 Houston

Grace White announced she's leaving her Consumer Investigative Reporter position with KHOU 11 Houston after nearly a decade.

Here is what White posted on Instagram.

"Some big news to share! I never thought I would leave KHOU this year, but sometimes unexpected doors open. In August, our family will be moving to Canada for my husband’s job.

First, I want to say thank you Houston and @khou11 for so many wonderful years. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a decade! I still remember what it felt like when I walked into Allen Parkway in 2014. I was thrilled to be working in my hometown. 

From covering dozens of cold cases and launching our “Missing Pieces” series, to in-depth coverage on Harvey and now Beryl, and most recently taking on consumer investigations - it’s been an incredible ride! The cases we have covered and the families we have worked with will always be close to my heart. 

For this next chapter, we’re excited to live in Calgary and give our kids ages 8, 5 and 3 the chance to explore beautiful Banff and the mountains! Hellooooooo snow ☃️ We do plan to eventually return to Houston, this will always be home."

White has been with KHOU 11 since October 2014 as a reporter. 

Since then, we have watched her family grow to include three children.

When Tiffany Craig left Channel 11 in 2023, White was promoted to her Consumer Investigative Reporter role. 

White joined KHOU 11 from News 4 San Antonio WOAI where she was an anchor/reporter. 

Before that, she worked as a reporter for WEAR ABC 3 Pensacola, Florida, and KLFY NEWS 10 Lafayette, Louisiana.

The native Houstonian graduated from Memorial High School and the University of Mississippi and interned with competitor ABC13 KTRK, Houston City Hall, and the White House.

KHOU 11 has had many job moves recently.  We've seen departures from Stephanie Whitfield, Kimberly Davis, Adam Bennett, Matt Musil and Robert Springer.  Then we've seen arrivals from Trason Bragg, David Loving and Luis Ortiz.
