Cristina Rodda left her anchor position at KTSM 9 News in El Paso as of March 2026.
"You may have noticed my absence from the anchor desk at KTSM 9 News," Rodda posted. "It’s a newsroom with many talented journalists and I enjoyed my time there. To the viewers, thank you for allowing me to bring you the news. It’s always a privilege."
After stepping away from television news for more than a decade, Rodda returned to the anchor desk in June 2025 as KTSM’s Noon and Weekend Anchor. In that role, she anchored the station’s noon newscast and delivered hourly live news updates Monday through Wednesday, along with weekend newscasts at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Throughout her career, Rodda also stepped away from broadcasting at times to work in communications and marketing. She served as a Governor-appointed Public Affairs Director for the New Mexico Corrections Department, worked as Marketing Director for a local law firm, and later as Marketing and Community Engagement Director for an El Paso nonprofit.
Before moving into public affairs and health communications, the El Paso native spent more than a decade in television journalism. She previously anchored the morning show at KTSM 9 News from 2014 to 2015 and served as a morning anchor at KLAS 8 News Now in Las Vegas from 2013 to 2014. Rodda also worked as an anchor and reporter at KOB 4 in Albuquerque from 2009 to 2011.
Rodda launched her television career at KDBC in 2004 as a weekend reporter, then moved up to anchor morning and prime-time newscasts.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Sarah Coria, the ABC-7 KVIA Good Morning El Paso (GMEP) weather forecaster/reporter, is now a CBS "The Price Is Right" winner!
"We got a lot of calls and emails asking… yes, it was her," the KVIA socials posted. "Our very own @sarahcoria_kvia was on The Price Is Right… and she won a trip to Austria."
On the December 22, 2025 episode, Coria says she had the opportunity to serve as an audience member, then a contestant, and finally a winner.
She has a year to take that trip. The anchors were interested in joining her!
And for those keeping score, this meant that appearing on The Price Is Right actually put Coria on Sun City television rival KDBC CBS 4. But if I had to guess, Coria would bid closer to 7 than 4 if she had a choice.
Coria, a native of El Paso, started with KVIA as a video editor and worked her way up to reporter/multimedia journalist, then weekend weather in 2023 and weekday mornings in 2024.
She attended El Paso Community College and then later The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
Jala Washington is joining NBC DFW 5 KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth in 2026. She leaves KXAN Austin, where she is a weekend morning anchor and a reporter.

Speaking of the KXAN-to-NBC pipeline, former Austin reporter Ryan Chandler joined the network as a correspondent. Here is something for the TV nerds...did you know that KXAN and KXAS were once sister stations, both owned by LIN Media? When mainstream sites use my posts, they take out the extra factoids like this.
Washington joined the KXAN in late 2020 as the Hays County reporter, covering stories across nearly a dozen Central Texas communities. Her reporting led to an expanded role as the station’s Texas Capitol correspondent, covering major statewide news and political developments for KXAN and 14 Nexstar Media Group television stations across Texas.
Before moving to Austin, Washington worked as a multimedia journalist in El Paso and Amarillo, Texas. She began her television career at ABC 7 Amarillo KVII and later reported for KFOX 14 and CBS 4 KDBC in El Paso. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Washington is a graduate of Ball State University, where she worked as an anchor and reporter for the university-owned NewsLink Indiana and also interned at WISH-TV in Indianapolis.
Stephania Jimenez is joining KPRC 2 Houston as the station’s weekday 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. evening co-anchor with Keith Garvin, effective January 19, 2026.
Her last day with KSAT12 San Antonio will be January 9th. (WATCH HER SIGN OFF)

Jimenez replaces Daniella Guzman, who recently moved into a morning co-anchor role with Sofia Ojeda following Owen Conflenti’s departure in October.
She comes to KPRC 2 from KSAT 12 San Antonio, a fellow Graham Media Group station, where she anchored the station’s flagship Nightbeat newscast and became one of South Texas’ most trusted and recognizable news voices. Known for her calm authority, clarity in breaking news, and strong connection to the community, Jimenez has built a reputation for focusing on issues most important to viewers while holding leaders accountable and centering the people most affected.

Jimenez joined the KSAT Nightbeat anchor team in September 2021 from NBC10 Philadelphia WCAU. She was hired at WCAU in July 2018, working as a weekend morning anchor and reporter.
Her previous experience also includes serving as an evening news anchor at KRIS 6 News in Corpus Christi and as an investigative and consumer reporter and anchor at NBC Connecticut (WVIT). Jimenez began her on-air broadcast career in Texas at KTSM 9/KDBC in El Paso.
Former KPRC anchor Dan O'Rourke, who worked with Jimenez in El Paso, says she is a great coworker and a serious-minded journalist.
A Syracuse University graduate, Jimenez started her journalism career behind the scenes as a producer and writer at Fox News Radio in New York City before transitioning into on-air roles.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jimenez is bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing her to connect authentically with a wide range of audiences.
Victoria Balderrama is joining the KFOX14 El Paso morning newscast, stepping into the anchor seat previously held by Salina Madrid, who is leaving the television news industry.
Balderrama made her on-air debut on December 5, 2025, and will co-anchor alongside Stephanie Muñiz.
The New Mexico State University graduate returns to her hometown after nearly five years with KRIS 6 News Corpus Christi, where she worked as a multimedia journalist (MMJ).
As noted, Madrid is departing the TV business after nearly a decade, with her final day set for December 10. She shared the following message with viewers:
"While I am stepping away from KFOX14, I am not stepping away from serving this community. In January, I will be joining the Las Cruces Police Department as their Public Information Officer. It is a role that will allow me to continue connecting with you in a new way. I am especially looking forward to working alongside Chief Jeremy Story, whose commitment to transparency and community engagement is something I greatly admire. I am excited to help amplify that message and highlight the work happening within LCPD.
Many of you also know how personal this next chapter is for me. I recently opened Every Kidz Corner, an inclusive play space in Las Cruces inspired by my son and built for all children in our community. Being able to pour more time into that mission, while still serving my hometown, is something I am deeply grateful for."
On a related note, Madris launched a KFOX14 series called 'Beyond the Diagnosis' earlier this year.
Madrid joined KFOX14’s morning team in January 2023 after previously anchoring CBS4 Mornings on sister station KDBC. She helped launch that newscast, noting on air that it was the first female anchor team in El Paso.
A longtime member of CBS4/KFOX14, Madrid began with the stations in 2018 as a production assistant, later advancing to reporter and then anchor.
The NMSU alum previously anchored and reported for the student-run News22 on KRWG and completed an internship with WCIV ABC News 4 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Jonathan Mejia is no longer listed as a reporter on the FOX 26 Houston KRIV website.
UPDATE: FOX says Mejia is no longer with the station, his last day was October 7th.
I contacted FOX for more information on Friday morning and did not hear back.
Mejia is a bilingual (English and Spanish) journalist who joined FOX 26 KRIV Houston as a reporter after serving as a multimedia journalist (MMJ) for KFOX14 - CBS4 KDBC El Paso. He made his on-air debut with FOX 26 on February 29, 2024.
In May 2024, the station launched Border Watch with Jonathan Mejia, a FOX 26 community newsletter dedicated to covering the latest news and developments along the Texas border.
FOX 26 announced in June 2025 the premiere of El Jangueo ("The Hangout") — a show hosted by Mejia that celebrates inspiring stories from Houston’s Hispanic and Latino communities and beyond. The program was streamed on FOX LOCAL.
Before joining KFOX14 in January 2022, Mejia worked as an associate producer at Univision, contributing to nationally recognized programs including Al Punto con Jorge Ramos, Despierta América, and Edición Digital. He also reported for Fusion’s UNews.
In July 2021, Mejia left Univision to film a documentary project across Mexico and Central America. Earlier in his career, he was a writer for 7 News WHDH Boston.
A Boston native with Honduran roots, Mejia began his media career in 2018 while studying at Northeastern University. He interned at CNBC and Univision.
Oriana Bottaro recently left the KTSM 9 El Paso weekend anchor desk.
Bottaro, who joined KTSM in 2023 as a reporter, was promoted to weekend anchor in early 2024. She previously worked as an associate producer for Univision Miami.
In the Florida Atlantic University grad's place is a familiar name, Cristina Rodda, who previously worked for KTSM.
"It’s great to have yet another respected and experienced journalist decide to return to the business and join our team," KTSM 9 News Director Chris Babcock said.
Rodda just wrapped up her time as Marketing and Outreach Director for ProAction Emergency Services Institute and Immunize El Paso, where she has spent over three years leading strategic communications, digital outreach, and public engagement initiatives aimed at improving community health and safety.
Before transitioning to public health communications, the El Paso native spent over a decade as a journalist and anchor. She was a morning show anchor at News Channel 9 KTSM El Paso from 2014 to 2015 and previously held the same role at 8 News NOW - KLAS Las Vegas from 2013 to 2014. Rodda also served as an anchor and reporter for KOB 4 Albuquerque between 2009 and 2011, and for five years prior at KDBC 4 News El Paso, where she began building her on-air career.
Rodda’s communications expertise extended into state government when she was appointed Public Affairs Director for the New Mexico Corrections Department from 2011 to 2012.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media from The University of Texas at El Paso.
Casey Viera has apparently left his position as weekend sports anchor at KENS 5 San Antonio, as his bio is no longer on the TEGNA Texas TV station website.
Viera returned to the TV news industry and KENS in January 2022, previously working as a Senior Producer/Anchor/Reporter for Quarter Moon Productions and as a YouTube content creator on the channel "The Baller Brief with Casey Viera."
WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth's TEGNA sister station KMPX 29 is changing call-letters and formats to KFAA 29.
Previously Estrella TV, a Spanish-language channel, the switch will take effect at 7 a.m. on October 20, when KFAA assumes control of the Channel 29.1 signal. Spanish-language programming currently airing on that channel will move to Channel 29.2.
This rebranding is part of WFAA and TEGNA's multi-year agreement to broadcast Dallas Mavericks games. KFAA will air all 70 non-nationally televised Mavericks games this season, with at least 15 simulcast on WFAA's Channel 8.
The following simulcast dates have been announced: October 31, November 19, December 3, December 19, January 23, January 27, and January 29. More simulcast dates will be revealed later. In addition, Channel 8 will carry five Mavericks games as part of ABC's national NBA schedule, airing on December 25, January 25, February 23, March 9, and March 16.
The season kicks off on Saturday, October 26, when the Mavericks take on the Phoenix Suns at 9 p.m. on KFAA. Dallas will then face the Utah Jazz on Monday, October 28, and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, October 29, both exclusively on KFAA.
Starting with the Mavs vs. Suns game on October 26, the following eight additional stations will broadcast all games not exclusively televised nationally – 70 or more in the first season – for free over-the-air:
Amarillo, Texas – KFDA 10.2 (Independent – Gray)
El Paso, Texas – KDBC 4.2 (MyNetworkTV – Sinclair)
Pre- and post-game shows will be available in most markets.

"After nearly 24 years of delivering the daily news, first for our sister station, KFOX14, and now for CBS4, I'm taking a break from the TV news business when I sign off on Friday, Aug. 2," Purvis wrote online. "I've had the privilege of covering and witnessing some incredible news stories while I've been here and in the 20 years I was in TV news before coming to KFOX14/CBS4."
This week, the El Paso County Commissioners Court and the City of El Paso honored him for his service to the community, and July 30, 2024, was declared John Purvis Day.
"Mr. Purvis's dedication and commitment to his craft have made him a respected figure in the community, and his contributions to journalism are both profound and enduring," said El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego.
“You have that voice," said El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser. "You have that command. And people trust that. People trust that voice. People trust someone that they can tune into."
Growing up in Roswell and Artesia, New Mexico, journalism ran in Purvis's blood. His mom was a newspaper editor, and his older brother was a disc jockey.
By age 17, the high schooler was working a studio camera for KBIM 10 Roswell.
After graduating from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a Political Science degree, Purvis returned to Roswell, where he worked for several years as a reporter, anchor and news director. That led to a job with an Albuquerque television station as Santa Fe Bureau Chief.
In 1992, he moved to El Paso to be KVIA 7's weekend anchor. He eventually moved to morning anchor. Later, he co-anchored/produced an evening news talk program for the station.
I've seen different years, so Purvis started with KFOX14 in either 2000 or 2001 as an evening anchor, followed by mornings. He then switched to evenings with Sinclair Broadcast Group's sister station, CBS4 KDBC.

Also leaving is CBS4 KDBC El Paso morning anchor Fidel Moreno-Meza who has been on the AM news desk since February 2023.
"After nearly three years here in the Sun City, the sun is setting on my time here. Friday, August 2nd, will be my last day on air with the wonderful team at CBS4 and KFOX14. I have taken a new role with our sister station, NBC 3, in Las Vegas."
The California State University, Fresno grad joined CBS4 in 2021 as a multimedia journalist and previously worked for KSHB 41 Kansas City, Missouri.

Jacquelyn Quiñones said she is also leaving. She joined the station in December 2023 from KTXS/ABC38 KTXE Abilene-San Angelo.

"Beginning August 5, we will be making changes to the way we produce news in El Paso and refocusing our resources across our two stations in the market, CBS4 and KFOX14.
In the short-term, CBS4 will continue to air its10pm newscast, adding a simulcast of KFOX14’s newscasts in other dayparts. A reconceptualized newscast will debut on CBS4 later this year.
KFOX14 will see an expansion of news content, with the addition of several hours of newscasts and The National Desk broadcasts joining the station’s lineup over the next several months.
Sinclair remains committed to local journalism in the communities which we serve. The refocusing of resources in El Paso will allow us to ensure the long-term success of the stations and continue to bring the top local, regional and national news to the market."
Rosemary Montañez, recently promoted to anchor for competitor ABC 7 KVIA's "Good Morning El Paso," posted a supportive message about the journalists she competes against.
Introducing "The Willards" who work in Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin TV news. In 2023, NBC5 KXAS reporter Keenan Willard (formerly of KFOX14/CBS4 KDBC) married CBS Austin KEYE reporter Abigail Velez.
Cupid must be at NBC DFW because KXAS reporter Alanna Quillen was engaged to Eric Malewitz in November. He also works in TV, but across the street as a photojournalist for CW33 KDAF.

Aylin Herrera was made a reporter sometime in the fall of 2023. She was previously an intern, assignment editor, and associate producer for the stations.
