Sara Donchey joins KPIX 5 San Francisco from CBS sister-stations CBS2 KCBS and KCAL9 Los Angeles where she was a weekend anchor.
"Thank you for your support, your feedback and your many kindnesses over the past 3 years," Donchey tweeted. "LA will always be home."
Donchey will anchor the KPIX 3pm and 5pm newscasts with Ryan Yamamoto.

Even while back home in California, Donchey praised Houston on social media.
Donchey made international news while anchoring live on Los Angeles television during the 7.1 earthquake.
The new anchor job will be a Bay Area return for Southern California native. Donchey attended San Francisco State University and even worked at KPIX 5 after college as a production assistant.
She is originally from Diamond Bar, California, in eastern Los Angeles County.
I’m going to miss you @SaraDonchey! 💜 We had so much fun when I was on weekends but our friendship will be forever. Our loss and the Bay Area’s gain. @ChrisVHolmstrom @jaimemaggio https://t.co/dl76hEYnxn pic.twitter.com/PXuod8tOv5
