Dominic Brown leaves CBS News Texas

Dominic Brown announced he is leaving his weekday morning meteorologist position at CBS 11 KTVT Dallas - Fort Worth, now known as CBS News Texas.

UPDATE: Brown says he is heading to NBC10 Boston WBTS.

Here is what Brown posted on X:

"Thank you, Dallas-Fort Worth. This week will be my last week working at CBS News Texas.

I’m so grateful for the past two years. I’ve got nothing but love for ya, DFW.

I’m really excited about the next chapter in my career. I’ll share more about it soon.

Again, thank you!"

The EMMY Award-winning meteorologist leaves a radically changed DFW morning newscast from this time last year.

Brown joined CBS 11 in May 2022 from WIS News 10 Columbia, South Carolina, where he was the station's chief meteorologist.

According to his bio, Dominic says people get confused when pronouncing his name. It says, "the best way to remember his name is to think of Dennis 'The Menace.'"

Before his time at WIS, Brown started his meteorological career as a weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter at WCTI 12 and FOX 8/14 in New Bern, NC, where he became the station's first Black meteorologist. He then spent five years as a meteorologist at WTKR News 3 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Brown holds a Master of Science in Geosciences/Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia. He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) recognized by the American Meteorological Society.

Actively involved in professional organizations, Brown is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), the National Weather Association, the American Meteorological Society (AMS), and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Brown's meteorological talents have been recognized with numerous awards. In 2018, he received the Television Weathercaster of the Year Award of Merit from the South Carolina Broadcasters Association (SCBA). He secured the second-place award for TV Weathercaster of the Year (TV I Division) from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) the following year.

In 2020, Brown earned the Southeast Excellence in Market Award (EMMA) for Best Weather Anchor and a Southeast EMMY Award for his team's coverage of Hurricane Dorian. He was also named "Best Weatherperson" by Free Times' Best of Columbia and received the first-place TV Weathercaster of the Year (TV I Division) award from RTDNAC.

He was also voted as the Best TV Weatherperson by Columbia Metropolitan Magazine.
