Power FM 105.3 Houston has hit the Bayou City airwaves, replacing all Selena radio and promising a "Latin Tropical" radio format according to its brand new Facebook page.
As I was writing this post, the station was playing songs by artists like:
Vida De Rico
Camilo
Llegamos a la disco
Daddy Yankee
Rebelion
Joe Arroyo
Bachata Rosa
Juan Luis Guerra
Hey Shorty (Remix)
Chris Andrew, Ozuna
While I was on my blogging break late last year, 105.3 FM started stunting as Selena 105.3 FM playing only songs by the legendary Tejano star.
Houston has a history of one artist formats going all the way back to 1983 with KBTL “Beatleradio No. 9” on KYST-AM 920 Texas City-Houston.
More recently, Houston radio had stunt formats ahead of the real ones like 2009's "The New Brit 95-7, Houston’s Brit Hits!" before Hot 95.7 KKHH's debut.
More recently we saw 2014's B92, an all Beyonce station, signaling the transition of News92 to Boom 92.1 FM Classic Hip Hop on KROI.
