Considering what my blog covers, then you can imagine that I will be excited about the new TBS show called Funny Or Die presents America's Next Weatherman. Then add the fact that Houston television news folks make appearances, well that makes it blog worthy!

The show, which debuts Saturday, Aug. 8 at 10pm Central, features 12 competitors vying for a job as America's next great weathercaster, having to withstand physical challenges to the dramatic vote-offs.

Maybe there will be green screen failures to contend with? With Funny or Die behind it, you can guess the show is laughing at reality contest shows.

Brand new KTRK abc13 meteorologist Elita Loresca will appear on the upcoming series' second episode as a weather mentor to the contestants. I don't want to give too much away, but Loresca oversees a hurricane related challenge. And some of the contestants seem to really like Loresca much to the chagrin of their teammates.

Loresca is joined by longtime Los Angeles weather personalities Johnny Mountain (KABC/KCBS) and Howard Stern super fan Jillian Barberie (Good Day LA). Baba Booey.

But who is that second KTRK connection? Well, it's host Matt Oberg. Does the last name sound familiar to Houston viewers? That's because Matt is KTRK reporter Ted Oberg's brother! I've been covering Matt's career on this blog since 2008.

You'll get a kick watching Oberg's "confessional" about Loresca.

The last Houston TV connection in episode two is the omnipresent Isiah "The Factor" Carey's bug in mouth video. It sets up a cringe worthy appearance for the contestants.

While the show is funny, the prize is very real. Contestants will be vying for $100,000 and an appearance on TBS's sister network CNN forecasting the national weather for the morning show New Day. Loresca's mentoring will make someone famous!

Catch the show's premiere Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10pm (CST) on TBS, with availability across TBS's on-demand, digital and mobile platforms the following day.
