It was a busy weekend of television goodbyes over at KPRC 2.

UPDATE AUGUST 2022
Idolina Peralez joins CW39

The first one, which I blogged about ahead of time last Friday, came at the end of the NBC affiliate's Sunday morning news block as meteorologist Idolina Peralez said her goodbyes to anchor Courtney Zavala and the viewers.

Lots of viewer questions found their way to Peralez via Twitter concerning her departure.

Watch out for Britta Merwin, formerly of KCRA Sacramento, to take Peralez's place.

Sunday night's 10pm newscast brought us the long coming farewell for weekend anchor Irika Sargent. At the very end of the show, co-anchor Phillip Mena told the audience Sargent was moving to Miami and she added it had been a wonderful three years at channel 2.

Sargent's move has been a big question for many of my readers. That's because CBS' WFOR Miami, where she will become the main anchor, announced her hiring back in February. Here we are in May and she is just leaving Houston. I suspect KPRC management wanted Sargent behind the anchor desk through May sweeps.

Sargent's new WFOR co-anchor will be former Fox News anchor Rick Folbaum.  No word on her replacement here in Houston.  Considering how long the station has had to prepare, I imagine someone must have been hired by now.
