Mike McGuff talks to Fox 26 about free TV in Houston

Houston weather, traffic, news | FOX 26 | MyFoxHouston

Here is video of my Fox 26 KRIV debut from Tuesday night's 9pm newscast (embedded above). I'm talking Houston TV with Ned Hibberd and Bob Martin "The Accountant to the Stars."

If you look closely, you might even see some TV anchors from other stations thrown in.

My energy level was a little low because, as I blogged yesterday, I had a sick kid asleep in another room. Gotta be quiet for the kids! I certainly wasn't as hyped up as I was during my first live shot at KIAH 39 where people thought I said something I didn't (I'm such a stinker in the quest to get younger demos).

My TV brothers and sisters always know I'll help them out when they need a good soundbite on media, tech, social media...etc.

Mike, I am an old man in this business. I have an analog TV. I have rabbit ears. But my remote does not allow me to enter station channels with decimal points. What am I missing?

    1. First rescan the channels. You should be able to access them by simply using channel up or down.

  2. What type of antenna do we need, besides the old rabbit ears?

    1. The old rabbit ears work, but you can also get some new types of antennas at a place like Best Buy that is just a flat box and most likely do not need to be plugged into the wall either.

New TVs are ready to go with the sub channels. If you have an old analog TV, go to a place like Best Buy again and buy a converter box. That will let your old analog TV pick up digital signals. It will also add new functionality to your TV like menus...etc.
