Top 10 mikemcguff.com blog posts for 2010 by reader traffic

Welcome to 2011! It's become a yearly tradition that I run through the top 10 mikemcguff.com posts of the year. Here is the list for 2010.

This goes in order with number 1 on the list being the post that got the most reader views.

KPRC 2 meteorologist Jonathan Novack is leaving
It was no doubt the year of ABC's The Bachelorette contestant Jonathan "The Weatherman" Novack. And here in Houston we knew Novack simply as the weekend weather guy at KPRC 2. Traffic to this post spiked every time the show aired Monday night and folks from around the country looked for info on the guy who wasn't afraid to cry on TV.

Nefertiti Jaquez lands at KPRC 2 Houston
Nefertiti Jaquez is hot. Yes, I said it. So of course her arrival to Houston's KPRC 2 post makes her my number 2 on the list. I interviewed her on Garf's 950 KPRC show and finally met her when I consulted for KPRC 2...and yes, she seems very nice in addition to heating up our TV sets every night. In fact I always see a spike in people searching for her on my blog after her 10pm news appearances.

VIDEO: Erin Anthony's tearful goodbye from Fox 26 KRIV traffic beat
Shame on me. I never knew TV viewers loved their traffic anchors soooo much. I first saw it a few years ago when Darby Douglas was shown the door at KHOU 11. Erin Anthony's departure from KRIV 26 upset many viewers in 2010. They are still commenting about missing her each morning.

Houston TV meteorologist on ABC's The Bachelorette 2010?
The first Novack post was a routine one. He was leaving KPRC 2 but wouldn't tell me where he was going. This was the one I posted the next day when a reader commented about his The Bachelorette casting rumors.

Maria Todd and Brad Booker team up for Mix 96.5 KHMX mornings
When former 104.1 KBRE morning host Maria Todd returns to Houston, it's going to be big news. Mix 96.5 KHMX hyped up her co-host debut. This was it.

Maria Todd on Mix 96.5 KHMX, but where's Sam Malone?
Naturally radio listeners wanted to know where Sam Malone was when his former 104.1 KRBE co-host returned to Houston. Everyone just kind of assumed they would team up again. Not the case. Sam is now the morning show host on 700 KSEV.

Sam Malone of KRBE, KHMX talks to Mike McGuff
This was a post from early 2009 that won't go away. People still find it when researching Sam Malone.

Pat Gray leaving Houston's 700 KSEV for Glenn Beck
When former Houston talk show host Pat Gray left for the national Glenn Beck radio show, it got noticed around here. When he fills-in for Beck on the radio, that's when the Beck listeners always start researching more about Gray and find this post.

Former KHOU 11 anchor Lisa Foronda overcomes demons
Former KHOU 11 anchor Lisa Foronda hasn't been on the air in years, but that doesn't stop people from wanting to know what she's doing. Now that's some popularity. I've talked to Foronda about this, she made it clear to me she does not want to have anything to do with the spotlight. In this article, she used some of her star power to promote the running group she is involved with. Then disappeared again.

KUBE-TV channel 57 Houston programming schedule
Channel 57 The KUBE is a new Houston station playing retro shows and I would say based on my traffic, it's a hit. KUBE viewers seem to come to my blog to mostly chat about how much they like the station or sometimes complain about it.
