Brandon Walker is returning to KPRC 2 Houston to join the ENOUGH team on October 12, 2026.
“Brandon already understands Houston, but more importantly, he understands the responsibility that comes with telling the stories of this community,” said Ana Lastra, KPRC 2 News Director. “He is a relentless reporter, a gifted storyteller and a journalist who knows how to ask difficult questions while never losing sight of the people affected by the answers. We’re thrilled to welcome him home and have him join the ENOUGH team.”
He comes from WWL 4 in his hometown of New Orleans, where he was a morning anchor. Guess who he anchored with in Louisiana? That's right, Brheanna Berry, who just returned to Houston this summer over at KHOU 11 as a 4pm anchor. As a native Houstonian, I have to ask: with all these former anchors returning from The Big Easy, does this prove Houston is the better city? I don't know...you'll have to ask Walker's former WWL co-worker Leigha McNeil, who also just recently joined KPRC.
Walker is no stranger to Channel 2. He joined the station in January 2015 as a morning reporter and spent more than eight years at the Houston NBC affiliate, working in a variety of reporting and anchoring roles before leaving the station in March 2023.
During his first run at KPRC 2, Walker became known for his storytelling. He also served as the interim 4 p.m. anchor after Keith Garvin moved to the evening newscasts following Kris Gutierrez's departure.
He even brought back the legendary "Eyes of Texas" as a podcast, connecting an iconic Houston television show with a new digital audience.
Walker made headlines himself in January 2020 when he was struck by a truck while crossing a Houston street. Lamar High School student Alex Park discovered Walker following the accident and helped save his life. Park later received the Boy Scouts of America's Medal of Merit for his actions that night.
After surgery and recovery, Walker returned to KPRC 2 in March 2020.
The Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Award-winning journalist left Houston in 2023 for his hometown of New Orleans. He joined WWL-TV, where he became an anchor and reporter on the station's morning newscasts. Walker debuted alongside Eric Paulsen and Leslie Spoon on October 16, 2023.
Walker is a New Orleans native from the historic Algiers neighborhood and graduated from St. Augustine High School. He actually began his journalism career while still in high school, working as an assignments editor at WGNO ABC26.
Before joining KPRC 2, Walker worked at News 12 Connecticut as a reporter and fill-in anchor. He previously served as a bureau chief, reporter, and fill-in anchor for YNN Albany in New York.
While earning his master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Walker worked as a broadcast associate for CBS News. He also interned with CBS News.
Walker earned his undergraduate degree from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he served as news director, anchor, and producer for the student-run 88.1 KRLX.
