Co-hosted by KXAN investigative reporters Josh Hinkle and Arezow Doost, “Cause & Effect” will dive deep into compelling narratives.

The half-hour show is dedicated to providing Central Texans with a thorough examination of significant stories, going beyond the surface to uncover the factors and implications behind the news.

“This show is all about peeling back the layers of the stories you think you know,” said Hinkle, who also serves as the station’s director of investigations and innovation. “We’re not just reporting — we’re having real conversations about the issues that affect your lives, giving you the full picture in a way that’s timely, relatable and engaging.”

Building on KXAN’s strong tradition of investigative journalism, the program showcases the largest investigative unit in Central Texas and its latest work. KXAN’s award-winning team has received honors such as the Investigative Reporters & Editors Award and multiple National Edward R. Murrow Awards in recent years, highlighting its commitment to accountability and transparency.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to give our audience insight into our investigative process as well as more complex levels of understanding with our reporting,” Haley Cihock, KXAN news director, said. “These stories don’t end when we hit ‘publish.’ They beg for more exploration.”

“The KXAN Investigative team will use this new program as an opportunity to expand upon key investigations that we believe our community will find valuable and interesting," Eric Lassberg, KXAN vice president and general manager, added.

Along with the main program, viewers can access extended editions of the Inside the Investigation segment that further explore the topics discussed. The companion KXAN Investigates Podcast will also be available wherever people listen to podcasts, allowing audiences to engage with the content at their convenience. Smart TV users can stream the show on the KXAN+ app, providing multiple viewing options.
