Mark Rowlett leaves KTXS Abilene

Mark Rowlett announced on-air on August 29, 2025, that it would be his last night as the Big Country chief meteorologist for KTXS News 12 Abilene:

"This is my last day here at KTXS. Sixteen years ago, I was fortunate enough to be asked to move to Abilene and become the chief meteorologist at KTXS.

I've really enjoyed my time here and I hope I was able to help you.

After 43 years in television, it's time to take a break. I wish you all the best, and I thank you sincerely for watching here on KTXS."

Rowlett has been with KTXS since August 2009, having arrived from KTBS 3 in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he worked for 11 years.

He previously worked for KETK Tyler as the station's first chief meteorologist, KLFY News 10 in Lafayette as a weekend/morning meteorologist, and KBTX 3 in Bryan-College Station.

In addition to television weather, a Texas A&M University graduate earned a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and taught geography courses at LSU Shreveport for three years.

In 2012, Rowlett made an appearance in the Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen film "Guilt Trip."
