Caiden Dinkins has been named the chief meteorologist at KTXS News 12 Abilene as of September 2025.
Dinkins takes over for Mark Rowlett, who left in August after 16 years.
Here is what Dinkins posted:
"I’m truly honored to step into the role of Chief Meteorologist at KTXS! I never imagined I’d have the privilege to serve as Chief so early in my career. It’s a responsibility I take to heart, and I will continue to earn your trust.
It’s not lost on me that Mark served in this role for 16 years, setting a standard I respect. I’m committed to building on that standard and the foundation that’s been established.
Thank you to my News Director, Will Jensen, and Vice President & General Manager, David Bailey, for their trust, guidance, and encouragement. To the entire KTXS team—your support has meant everything.
Most importantly, thank you to this incredible community. Your kindness, trust, and encouragement mean more than I can ever put into words. I’ve been overwhelmed with gratitude for the support that’s poured in over the last 24 hours.
I’m excited to continue bringing dependable weather coverage to our area and representing the fewer than 10% of female chief meteorologists nationwide!"
Dinkins first joined KTXS as the morning meteorologist in June 2023.
She was there the day that the KTXS 12 studios were damaged by severe weather last June.
A University of South Carolina broadcast journalism grad, Dinkins was the production director for Student Gamecock Television and president of the Gamecock American Meteorological Society student chapter. While in school, she interned with WACH FOX in Columbia.
Currently, Dinkins is continuing her meteorology training through Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Operational Meteorology program.
Dinkins is a two-time winner of the Texas Broadcast News Awards (Best Weather Anchor, Small Markets – 2023 & 2024) and a Southeast Student Emmy recipient for Best Talent (2024).
