Shane Hinton leaves KVUE Austin

Shane Hinton left KVUE Austin's "Daybreak" on October 11, 2024 where he was a morning meteorologist.

Here is a portion of what Hinton posted on social media:

"I’ve always said “I’m not a morning person. I just play one on TV.” These past 4 years, I set myself one main goal: start someone’s day with a smile.

Make no mistake about it, I am humbled and honored by the amount of people who told me I helped them each day. Whether it was by preparing them with a forecast or helping them crack a smile while they were waiting for their coffee to cool down…we made it through our mornings TOGETHER.

While I am sad this part of our journey is over, I’m even more excited about what is just around the corner. My location, station, and routine will change, but my message will always remain the same: lead your day with laughter."

Weekend morning meteorologist Grace Thornton is filling in on the weekday version of "Daybreak" until a permanent replacement is hired.

Hinton moved to KVUE mornings in October 2022 when Hunter Williams left the AM shift to become the Austin station's chief meteorologist in the evenings.

He joined KVUE Austin in November 2020 after serving as a weekend meteorologist at WCTI TV 12 and FOX 8/14 in New Bern, North Carolina.

A graduate of the University of Miami, Hinton interned with NBC News and worked as a meteorologist for the university's UMTV station.
