Jonathan Novack, who had been with FOX 11 Los Angeles KTTV, joined CW39 Houston KIAH as chief meteorologist in September 2024 and is talking with mikemcguff.com about his return to H-Town.
In the above video interview, talk about:
- the differences between Houston and Los Angeles TV news
- who at CW39 he has worked with in the past
- his entertaining past, including his favorite music from Metallica to Dave Matthews and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
- should we start a Houston TV news band?
I also embarrassed my son with the cheesy intro to the video, but as one of my great mentors once said, "the dumber, the better."
Houston viewers might remember Novack from his time as KPRC 2’s weekend evening meteorologist from 2007 to 2010 before he appeared on ABC's The Bachelorette and The Bachelor Pad.
Novack’s hiring marks the first addition to CW39’s weather team after Adam Krueger, Carrigan Chauvin, and Idolina Peralez left.
Since his initial Houston tenure, Novack has spent most of his career in Southern California. Before FOX LA, he hosted "Court Report" on the Tennis Channel and worked as a meteorologist and correspondent for ABC7 Los Angeles (KABC) and ABC’s syndicated show On The Red Carpet.
A graduate of Syracuse University and Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program, Novack began his TV career at KCBD NewsChannel 11 in Lubbock before joining WSVN 7 News in Miami.
